Existent always gives his running and will be rattling home late in the day with the likely pace-setter Intrinsic Bond giving him a perfect target to run at. Added to that, we get the services of the excellent Tom Marquand, who throws his leg across him for the first time and can have the desired effect.
Post Impressionist ran an absolute stinker just seven days ago at the Glorious Goodwood meeting but surely there was a very good explanation for his awful effort? He backs up very quickly into a competitive staying handicap. He’s also been given a little bit of lee-way by the assessor and we surely haven’t seen the best of him yet.
Poet Master has managed to win both his races to date by a decent margin and with significant ease in the ground. Despite carrying a hefty 7lb penalty last time, he was always in control, despite not travelling that well and only levelling off inside the final furlong to go clear. This suggests that he is going to continue his progression.
Scampi looked really good when winning at York five starts ago, but he has been a little hit and miss since over some different distances as well as running in headgear. The red-hot rider Saffie Osborne takes over in the saddle and Scampi looks to be returning to his ideal distance. He will be held up and played into the contest very strongly late on.
El Drama has some rock-solid top level form in the book and could easily take a little bit of a jump forward. He’s switched stables and is running for the Karl Burke team on Saturday. He is obviously a bit of a character and switching stables is often the time to catch these characters. He could surprise the favourite Al Aasy.
The Wizard Of Eye was running in his first handicap last time at the Glorious Goodwood meeting in the Golden Mile and he ran an absolute cracker. He held a handy position towards the outside and kept on well. He also has been eased a little by the assessor and despite carrying top weight, he can prove the class act in this line-up over this turning mile.
Wild Goddess was very impressive over course and distance last time when bolting up by four lengths and she hit the line very strongly. That bodes well for her return to stronger company. With a likely quicker pace in the early stages, that will suit her better and bring her stamina into play.
Like A Tiger was a very disappointing favourite behind Cumulonimbus at Yarmouth when the winner was allowed a very easy time of it up on the front end. That was over a quarter mile shorter and the step up to this distance is going to suit this big, powerful, resolute galloper. He could prove the strongest bet on the card.
Quinault has been on an amazing run, climbing a whopping 38lbs in the handicap and the form of his last victory is rock solid. The second Mill Stream came out and won in Listed company over in France. He can continue to climb the ladder as he aims for seven wins on the bounce.
Unquestionable just wasn’t ready for the ding-dong battle inside the final furlong with Bucanero Fuerte last time but he should take a significant step forward from that. There should be a stronger early pace which is likely to suit him better. The master trainer Aidan O’Brien has shuffled his pack in the juvenile division and can have another profitable weekend.
