Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
Chester Le Streak (second choice) can step forward from his reappearance and he’s a strong contender, while Somewhere Secret, Made Of Lir and Flavius Titus also have something to recommend them. The case for POINTOF WOODS is more tenuous, and it’s possible that the veteran has completely lost his mojo, but there was enough promise in a couple of Ripon runs this summer to think he could have one last hurrah at this modest level. 6f on good ground at this track will suit and he could go well at what should be rewarding odds.
This looks tricky but it might be worth siding with GALLIMIMUS, who has form figures of 11212 over this trip on turf including a near miss at Bath on his penultimate run. He looks interesting on this drop back to 1m2f and gets the vote ahead of the unexposed 3yos Paternoster Square and Miller Spirit. The other one on the shortlist is Sun Festival, who has won over C&D in two of his last four runs and was a creditable third at Yarmouth last time.
Two of these carry penalties for recent wins but confidence in Patontheback would be much higher on an AW surface, while this is tougher than the C&D classified race The Gay Blade contested last week. Nefyn Dawn (second choice) ran well when dropped to this sort of trip ten days ago and is still quite lightly raced but perhaps the most interesting runner is well-handicapped 5yo RICH WATERS, who hinted at a possible return to form over 6f a fortnight ago and is sure to be suited by today’s extra furlong.
Moulin Booj and Headabovetherest are ahead of the handicapper and can go well, while Jack Of Clubs, Parr Fire, Howyadoin and King Of The Jungle also come into the reckoning. Lady Roamer (second choice) could benefit from the drop in trip and fitting of headgear but SPIRIT IN MY SOUL is taken to maintain her unbeaten record for Declan Carroll. She only got up late at Redcar last time but the blinkers made a difference and she’s still well treated on her 2yo form despite a small rise in the weights.
