14:30 – Notre Maison
Most of these come with risks attached but NOTRE MAISON has done really well in cheekpieces this summer and was a creditable third in her hat-trick bid over course and distance (C&D) last month. She still looks on a workable mark and is a key player back in a handicap. Second choice is Mr Fayez, who has claims if he can recapture the form of his all weather win in June.
15:00 – Kandoo
Top of the list is KANDOO, who finished placed in her last two runs in Ireland and went down fighting in a close second on her stable debut at Bath last week. She sets the standard on that form and should have more to offer for Archie Watson. Dual Kempton runner-up Sparklight is feared most on her return from a break, although Nelson Rose has shown plenty of speed in her last two runs and could resume her progress on this drop back to 6f. The most interesting newcomer is Tara Atacama.
15:30 – Gallimimus
This looks tricky but it might be worth siding with GALLIMIMUS, who has form figures of 11212 over this trip on turf including a near miss at Bath on his penultimate run. He looks interesting on this drop back to 1m2f and gets the vote ahead of the unexposed 3yos Paternoster Square and Miller Spirit. The other one on the shortlist is Sun Festival, who has won over C&D in two of his last four runs and was a creditable third at Yarmouth last time.
16:00 – Count Otto (NAP)
This looks highly competitive but the vote goes to COUNT OTTO (NAP), who has been resurgent with his wins at Epsom and Windsor in his last two runs and remains well treated on old form. Antiphon made a bold in a Class 2 event at Windsor on Monday and he’s feared most, although Captain Cuddles still has potential and is respected on his drop back in trip. Another interesting contender is Razzam, who made a winning start for Mick Appleby at Yarmouth on Wednesday and is open to more progress back up in trip.
16:35 – Stepmother
Darryll Holland has an interesting contender in Bernard Spierpoint, while the reliable Porfin made another bold bid at Yarmouth on Thursday and would be strongly respected if turned out quickly on this drop back in trip. However, it might be worth taking a chance with STEPMOTHER, who looked dangerous before her effort flattened out over 7f at Epsom last month. She’s dropped another 4lb in the weights and could find something extra on this switch to sprinting.

17:05 – Harry The Haggler
Moondial is unexposed on turf and hit a personal best with her brave win at Salisbury on her penultimate run. She’s respected back in this sphere but slight preference is for HARRY THE HAGGLER, who is only 1lb higher than for his close call at Chepstow in June and looks interesting on this drop back in trip. Another to keep an eye on is Queens Resolve, who showed some promise on the second of her three runs and is possible improver on this handicap debut.
17:35 – Victoria
Quite a trappy contest, however five-time ARO top trainer James Owen is the current leader with the breed and has a 38% strike rate with his thoroughbred string this term too. Distance winner Heritage Valentino has placed twice this season, including over this trip and can be forgiven his poor recent run tried in a visor.
However, Owen’s amateurs give a useful weight advantage to the unexposed VICTORIA and Delicatesse on their handicap debuts, with the former a tentative pick. Al-Hatab is another young horse going the right way and looks to have each way claims.
