14:25 – Little Boy Blue
Matty Too has raised his form to a new level this summer and is strongly respected in his bid to make it 3-3 for Ed Dunlop. Roger Varian’s 3yo Bonkersinabundance has won twice here this season and is open to more progress, while dual course and distance (C&D) winner Granary Queen also enters the reckoning on her step back up in trip. However, it might be worth siding with LITTLE BOY BLUE, who is only 2lb higher than for his Chepstow win in June and has form figures of 1313113 at this track.
15:00 – Loaded Quiver
Miguel was an eyecatching second at Chepstow on his recent debut and he’s respected along with Drink Dry, who showed promise at Epsom last month and that form has been boosted since. Al Shabab ran green at Newbury and looks a likely improver on this step up in trip, while the well-bred newcomer Hope Joanna needs watching in the market. However, it is hard to get away from LOADED QUIVER, who has finished runner-up in both his starts and sets a clear standard on his near miss at Yarmouth last week.

15:30 – Young Winston
This looks trappy but it might be worth siding with YOUNG WINSTON, who didn’t get much luck when runner-up on his stable debut at Bath last month and looks interesting on this step back up to 1m4f. The main threat could come from Asense, who was an eyecatching third in a similar race at Windsor last time and is still unexposed at this trip. Yesterday’s course winner Global Style will have to enter calculations if running again.
16:00 – Al Azhar
Mark Johnston saddled the winner of this race three times since 2015 and, with son Charlie now holding the training license outright, you’d have to respect the chance of Alumnus even before factoring in his run of solid efforts. However, it is difficult to look beyond the recent Wolverhampton scorer AL AZHAR, who is also on the upgrade. With previous Brighton experience to draw upon, he should manage to negotiate this drop back in trip.

16:30 – No Turning Back (NAP)
Tony Carroll is responsible for five of the field, including yesterday’s course winner De Vegas Kid, last year’s winner Sapphire’s Moon, and Madrinho. The most interesting runner though is the lightly raced filly NO TURNING BACK (NAP). She has finished runner-up on both previous visits to Brighton, including when getting close to an in-form Heer’s Sadie last time.
17:00 – Pacos Pride
The suggestion is the steadily improving 3yo filly PACOS PRIDE, who was only just reeled in over this trip at Bath three weeks ago. Local Bay and Brilliant Blue ran here yesterday and are possible dangers.
