Each and every day of the racing year we bring you a bumper NAPs table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.
Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
SHADOW OF WAR, a well-related 450,000gns yearling has shown ability in two runs to date over today’s trip, and this will be a good test of stamina on softer ground.
Mark Johnston saddled the winner of this race three times since 2015 and, with son Charlie now holding the training license outright, you’d have to respect the chance of Alumnus even before factoring in his run of solid efforts. However, it is difficult to look beyond the recent Wolverhampton scorer AL AZHAR, who is also on the upgrade. With previous Brighton experience to draw upon, he should manage to negotiate this drop back in trip.
CARBIS BAY showed promise when runner-up in all weather novices over 1m/1m2f; well beaten on fast turf at Doncaster in between but way too soon to be suggesting he doesn’t act on the grass and he brings unexposed potential to this handicap debut.
All four wins for COCO JACK were last summer, beaten nine times this season but there has been the occasional good run and he’s becoming well handicapped; goes on good to soft but anything softer would be a worry; gets new blinkers.
