14:50 – Ice Max

ICE MAX produced a promising first effort when fourth in a Haydock novice event over this trip 17 days ago and, well bred and in good hands, he earns the vote to take a step forward and come out on top. Veiled Illusion rates an interesting newcomer for James Tate whilst the selection’s stablemate, Respectful, who was fifth behind a subsequent Group 2 winner on debut is another to note. Buttercross Flyer completes the shortlist.

15:25 – Tea Garden

A big-field classified event where preference is for last-time-out winner TEA GARDEN, who returned to her best form in a handicap at Wolverhampton last month. She had fallen down the weights and duly bounced back to take advantage, making headway in the final furlong and staying on well to lead in the dying strides. She has got form in soft ground and is taken to launch another bold bid on these terms. Doomsday and Rum Runner can also make their presence felt.

16:00 – Spantik

There are a number with claims in this low-grade handicap but preference is for SPANTIK, who ran a good race when runner-up over this course and distance last month. He was given a positive ride on that occasion, but had no answer for the well-treated winner in the closing stages, who has since won again to give the form a boost. The handicapper has left Spantik on the same mark and he has solid claims with a competent 5lb claimer now taking over in the saddle and cheekpieces refitted. Lord Torranaga similarly arrives in good heart and is feared, along with Oh So Chic who goes well at this venue.

16:35 – Wades Magic

WADES MAGIC hasn’t won for almost a year, but he is now 8lb below that mark, and he arrives having hit the frame on his last three starts. The latest of those came over this course and distance 13 days ago and this race looks a little easier, so he may be ready to return to winning ways. Doctor Mozart and Shark Two One should also go well.

17:10 – This Ones For Fred

There isn’t a great deal of pace on and with that in mind it could pay to side with recent Lingfield winner THIS ONES FOR FRED. He responded well to a positive ride when accounting for seven rivals last month and a 3lb higher mark shouldn’t prevent another bold bid from the front back on turf. Old rivals Valley of Flowers and Jamil rate next best, whilst Odd Venture isn’t out of things, either.

17:45 – Golden Gal

GOLDEN GAL quickly dispelled a lesser effort over six furlongs at Thirsk two starts back when resuming winning ways dropped to five furlongs at Beverley three weeks ago and, operating from the same mark as when landing this corresponding race 12 months ago, all looks set fair for another bold showing from what is likely to prove a handy draw. Shesadabber, who finished runner-up to the selection 12 months ago, arrives thriving for David Evans and along with two-time course and distance winner Zoom Star, head up the dangers.
