13:50 – Teed Up

We all know by now that Emmet Mullins is a very shrewd operator and his Teed Up has already won at the Galway Festival, taking an Amateur Riders’ Handicap over 2m on the Flat, so you know he handles the conditions. He is well in on last year’s hurdles form when winning here and the only concern is a third run in a week.

14:20 – Wellhavewan

Paul Townend rides Wellhavewan for Willie Mullins and this son of Imperial Monarch is another who’s had a couple of runs at the meeting. However, he’s proven on soft ground and they must be tempted to run again as conditions look optimal now. Despite putting in two good runs already this week the ground then probably wasn’t slow enough then but he gets exactly what he loves here.

14:55 – Saint Sam

It’s very hard to go against the Willie and Paul Townend combination again in this contest. Saint Sam is proven on soft ground and jumped really well when winning at Killarney. Expect him to lead this lot a merry dance round here and, with a few pounds in hand, my selection should be winning this.

15:30 – Roseys Hollow (each way)

Jonathan Sweeney trains this daughter of Beat Hollow for J.P. McManus and my selection Roseys Hollow ran very nicely indeed at Tipperary. She is proven on bad ground and, I just feel with no weight on her back, my pick has to have a strong each-way chance in this decent contest.

16:00 – No More Porter

I know No More Porter is a reserve at the moment but I’m hoping he gets in as there’s a few question marks about some of the other intended runners. He may well sneak in and No More Porter’s been very consistent in decent handicaps. I think he’s due a win after a very good run at the meeting earlier in the week.

16:30 – Stromberg

Stromberg finished strongly at Leopardstown on soft ground on debut and, with that experience under his belt, you would like to think he should be getting off the mark here. Romford ran a nice race in a maiden that has worked out really well at Navan and has to be of interest if the market gives positive vibes.

Tudor City jumps a flight in the Galway Hurdle

17:00 – Hasten Slowly

Noel Meade loves a winner at the Galway Festival and it’s interesting that he has kept crack claimer Jamie Powell on board Hasten Slowly and this looks a really good fit for his contender. My shout was a nice winner at Naas last time out and a 5lb rise for that success that may not be enough to stop another win.

17:30 – Lionnar

John Gleeson is booked a ride this daughter of Walk In The Park, Lionnar. She is a four year old so gets the allowance and John takes an extra 5lbs off which is sure to help further. She won nicely at the Curragh last time and should be able to cope with conditions.
