It’s the weekend – huzzah! – but it’s also the last day of a soggy Goodwood Festival. Boo!
But fear not, we’ve got another sensational day to saunter through on ITV Racing where the 6f Stewards’ Cup takes centre-stage and is ably supported by two races from Newmarket to keep us entertained.
While Saturday is all about the need for speed, our crack team of tipsters have shown plenty of stamina over the past four days and are hoping for a standing ovation as the curtain comes down on the five-day fiesta.
Hogging the limelight as usual are our five top pundits and all-round good eggs Jason Weaver Rory Delargy Matt Chapman, Timeform and Ruby Walsh who will guide you through the day’s drama.

Zaman Jemil has improved again for the drop back to 6f and carries a 6lb penalty for a smooth success at Thirsk. He also seems to act under any conditions.
Rory Delargy
Cooperation is drawn in stall 12 and it’s been a big positive to be drawn by the stands’ rail this week. If he has a quick start, he can go well.
Music Society got a good draw in stall nine and if a gap opens up, he’ll kick on.
Matt Chapman
LIVE IN THE MOMENT is drawn next to the stands’ rail which might be an advantage if it comes up very soft. Shariq Mahd takes off a useful 7lb off.
Timeform
ZAMAN JEMIL’s Thirsk win is backed up by a punchy timefigure and as a three-year-old in excellent hands, his profile stands out.
Ruby Walsh
Count Otto has a chance. He’s off a very workable mark and has won his last two races at Epsom and Windsor. He was rated much higher last year.
Jason Weaver
Woodhay Wonder takes a significant drop back in class and a mark of 88 looks well within her compass.
Rory Delargy
Say Hello could be the best in this and although she’s had a rise in the weights, you’re likely to get a fair price on her.
Matt Chapman
LADY WULFRUN should go well and will be staying on at the end. Has shown some promise in three starts so far and a mark of 71 seems workable.
Timeform
Despite a big rise in the weights SAY HELLO can follow up last week’s wide-margin course and distance win that was backed up by the timefigure.
Ruby Walsh
I don’t fancy anything in this so there’s no point in guessing.
Jason Weaver
Post Impressionist has only had one run so far this season when he underperformed in the Northumberland Plate. His season can start in earnest now for Team Haggas.
Rory Delargy
Post Impressionist took time to fulfil his promise last season but he had some solid form. Ignore his Northumberland Plate run last time and I expect him to bounce back. The ground will be no issue.
Matt Chapman
SWEET WILLIAM is so progressive that he might well cope with a rise in the weights to 95. He was off 88 when hacking up at Newbury the other day and that looked a fair event. Ground and distance are no issue.
Timeform
SWEET WILLIAM needs to win this to stand any chance of getting into the Ebor at York mid-month and he might well be up to the task if he handles much softer ground than he’s encountered before.
Ruby Walsh
The booking of Ryan Moore on Splendent catches the eye. However, Post Impressionist should come on for his debut run and was a winner at York last year.
Jason Weaver
This looks perfect for Amusement to get an all-important Listed victory on the board. She has been racing in better company the last two times in Ireland over further than this 1m 4f trip and should get the job done.
Rory Delargy
Amusement could take all the beating if she gets a good position at the start but Climate Friendly could be value. She stays the trip well enough and she’s got cheekpieces on for the first time.
Matt Chapman
Ratings aren’t everything but this is a big chance for AMUSEMENT for Donnacha O’Brien and Gavin Ryan. The slight drop in trip should help. She has been running well without winning of late.
Timeform
AMUSEMENT sets a clear standard on the form she showed when third to this week’s Goodwood Cup runner-up Emily Dickinson at the Curragh last month.
Ruby Walsh
I’m going to take on Amusement – who has yet to win outside of handicap company – with the Godolphin runner Sunset Point who comes here on the back of an Ascot win.
Jason Weaver
Free Wind disappointed last time and if she fails to fire again, Time Lock can take advantage.
Rory Delargy
There are question marks about Free Wind handling the softer ground but River Of Stars is a filly going places. She won at York in May and she followed that up with a decent second in France. She will relish what could be a test of stamina.
Matt Chapman
Hard to get away from FREE WIND who is back down in class having found Pyledriver too strong in the Hardwicke at Royal Ascot. She ran flat that day and is a lot better than that effort.
Timeform
FREE WIND was below her best in the Hardwicke at Royal Ascot but she undoubtedly remains one to be positive about now stepping back up in trip. The game River of Stars finished second in a French Group 2 last time out.
Ruby Walsh
I’m with Free Wind for Frankie Dettori and John & Thady Gosden but that’s only because I can’t find anything to take her on! She can run below her rating and still win this.
Jason Weaver
There are plenty of old favourites in the line-up, but Came From The Dark is undoubtedly the best-handicapped runner in the line-up if returning to his best.
Rory Delargy
Spanish Star is in stall 17 and I’m not sure that’s a great draw. He loves this kind of track as his record on downhill tracks is really good. He doesn’t mind the going and can go well at a price.
I’ll also be keeping an eye on Summerghand, who always goes well in August.
Matt Chapman
This is very dull, but I actually just think leading fancy ORAZIO will land the prize. He was in blistering form on soft ground earlier in the season with wins at Newmarket and Ascot before finishing sixth in the Wokingham.
Timeform
The lightly-raced four-year-old ORAZIO is taken to regain the winning thread back on softer ground. Albasheer and the selection’s stablemate Tanmawwy are feared most.
Ruby Walsh
Former winner Summerghand is drawn on the stands’ side and he showed a spark on his last start at York when finishing fourth of 15. He’s racing off a competitive mark too.
