Perfuse has form on soft ground and he’s got the profile as a Sir Michael Stoute improver. He’s a serious contender but I like Alsakib at a bigger price. He’s won at Chester and Windsor this summer and he’s clearly got a fair level of ability. I feel the plan will always have been to keep him away until Goodwood so he’ll do me.

14:25 – Vandeek

Vandeek is my pick and he’s the unexposed runner in this race. He’s had one run when winning at Nottingham last month. He blew the start there but he recovered well to win. He got there easily in the end. I’m expecting plenty of improvement for his Nottingham win.

15:00 – Espionage

This is probably a no-bet race for me as I don’t really want to take Espionage on. He comes here on the back of his win at Roscommon in July, as well as an impressive second-place finish in France last year. I just favour Espionage over Artistic Star.

15:35 – Blue Rose Cen

I’m a big fan of Blue Rose Cen and she looks the real deal. She might have a little to find on the figures compared to Nashwa but I’m with Blue Rose Cen. I can’t go against her.
