15:25 – Golden Mind

I am siding with GOLDEN MIND. I’m not overly surprised that Iberian is weak in the market, he was impressive at Royal Ascot recently but it turned out that the race he won at Newbury was a bit of a weak race.

Haatem has obviously been consistent, ran well at Ascot. But I thought Golden Mind ran well at the Chesham at Ascot. When I first looked at the prices for this race he was at 8/1, he’s now at 6/1, that might be the Frankie Dettori factor. I just think there’s more to come from Golden Mind so I’d side with him.

 

16:00 – Isaac Shelby (each-way)

I’d be willing to take a chance on ISAAC SHELBY here to overturn Kinross. I think at 4/1 with eight runners now without the non-runner Jumby. I know it’s a fifth of the odds but I really can’t see Isaac Shelby out of the tree. I’d be taking a chance because you’ll get most of your stake back if he doesn’t win (i.e. he places) and if he does win, he’s a 4/1 shot.

 

16:35 – Courage Mon Ami

I’m all over the favourite, COURAGE MON AMI, here. I thought he did incredibly well to win the Ascot Gold Cup on only the fourth start of his career. If anything, I think this horse is just going to keep on getting better.

I think he’ll have improved since Ascot. In athletic terms, to do what he did at Ascot was an incredible performance, going by his experience, his age, his mileage on the clock; it was just a really incredible performance. He could be a better horse this week than he was at Ascot in June.
