A small field but all six runners can have a case argued for them. Abate (second choice) and Lipsink are respected but SPOOF has conditions to suit and this race looks weaker than the hot Ascot handicap he ran creditably in two weeks ago.

Not a lot went right at Nottingham for hot favourite NAZRON and he can show his true colours this time. Hot Front never figured at Royal Ascot but deserves second preference on her initial effort, while Tan Rapido should also be involved.

19:00 – INSIGNIA

This represents a drop in class for Shayekh and his proven ability on soft ground will be an asset. He’s respected, along with Newmarket winner Empire Of Light, but there could be significant improvement from Leaves Of Grass (second choice) and INSIGNIA is a newcomer of some note. The last-named gets the tentative vote

19:30 – NOGO’S DREAM

Montauk Point is the unknown quantity and it could be that she’s been let into handicaps lightly but it may not have been much of a race she won at Salisbury and this sharp 6f will be a different test. Airshow can go well if the ground dries out but NOGO’S DREAM (nap) is surely capable of winning handicaps off this mark and he can gain compensation for the tack issues that blighted him at Wolverhampton last time.

20:00 – LARRSEN

The return to turf should suit LARRSEN and he can confirm the impression given at Bath that there is more to come from him on grass. The biggest danger can come from Garrick Street after a better effort at Chester. Flying Spirit and Outrace have something to recommend them despite their best form coming on quicker ground than they are likely to face today.

20:30 – SOLUTION

The prospect of further improvement from SOLUTION, who was runner-up over 1m4f in his first handicap, earns him the vote. Fravanco won his handicap debut and could still be capable of better, so he’s next on the list, just ahead of Royal Athena and Greased Lightning.
