A 5f sprint to start this year’s Racing League and it can go to the Rae Guest’s two-year-old I’m So Dizzy. She has progressed nicely with each of her three starts so far culminating with a very smooth win over this distance at Nottingham last time. She doesn’t appear to be harshly treated off a mark of 77 on her handicap debut in this Nursery and can take the opening contest.
A 6f sprint next where Rathbone was once rated in the low 90s but races off 80 now. He has proven to be a consistent performer in the main and his two runs at Pontefract and Beverly have signalled a revival in his form. He won’t mind if there’s any rain in the ground.
Dean Ivory’s runner is at the bottom of the weights and proved her first run in a handicap at Newbury all wrong with a much better effort at Ascot last time. Achillea got outpaced over 7f that day but rallied and ran right through the line. That suggests a return to the one mile trip tonight is right up her street.
He’s a very solid handicapper off his mark of 90 over 7f and Able Kane ran well in red-hot company at York last time when fourth to Northern Express. A lot of the focus will be on the bottom weight Ramiro after his smooth win at Ayr last time and he gets 20lbs off the joint top-weight, Able Kane. This is a tougher race though.
Two of his last three races have been over 6f but he looked to be coming to the boil nicely at Doncaster last time over this 5f distance. Nomadic Empire won’t mind any dig in the ground and is dangerously well handicapped being a regular triple-digit performer previously but racing off 87 now.
Has run exceptionally well from the back of the pack at Haydock the last two times and that speed-favouring venue has not suited his style at all. He steps up an extra quarter of a mile in trip now which looks guaranteed to suit. Onesmoothoperator can put a target on the back of Alnilam who should give him a perfect lead to around the furlong pole.
The three-year-old bolted up on his return at Newmarket and then ran sixth to the very progressive Castle Way who has rubberstamped the form in Group company since. Like a Tiger is a resolute galloper and won’t want this 1m 2f contest turning into a sprint at the end. Fortunately, there seems to be a few in here who like to go forward which should ensure a decent pace to run at.
