14:30 – Braes Of Doune
BRAES OF DOUNE produced a career best to finally get off the mark at Ayr a couple of weeks ago, hitting the front entering the final furlong and digging deep from there to hold on by a head. The runner-up gave that form a boost when winning his next start at Beverley and Braes of Doune is taking a drop in grade today. His Ayr form comfortably sets the standard on these terms and it looks a good opportunity for him to follow up if his stamina lasts out over a mile and a half.
15:05 – Elusive Empire
ELUSIVE EMPIRE showed improved form when filling the runner-up spot in a novice event at Salisbury 10 days ago, finishing strongly from a long way back to pass the post just a length and a half behind the winner. That form is the best on offer in this maiden and it’s unlikely that he’s reached his ceiling yet. He has certainly made a promising start to his career and should mount a bold bid to open his account at the fourth attempt.
15:40 – Ascot Adventure
ASCOT ADVENTURE ran another solid race when finishing third in a big-field handicap at York last time, holding every chance inside the final two furlongs before his effort flattened out. Still beaten less than three lengths at the line, he seems to be working his way back to his best and it’s surely just a matter of time before he gains a first win for his new stable. Today could well be the day now down in grade from an 8 lb lower mark than when scoring at Haydock in May last year.

16:15 – Indication Spirit
INDICATION SPIRIT confirmed the promise of his debut when going one place better over this course and distance last time, just needing to be kept up to his work late on to land the spoils by three quarters of a length. That was a fair performance and there should be better to come from him after just two starts. Lining up from a BHA mark of 68 on nursery debut, Indication Spirit is very much one to keep on the right side for Karl Burke, who has excelled with his two-year-olds in 2023.
16:50 – Loch Carron
LOCH CARRON got back on track when finishing sixth on her handicap debut at Chelmsford a couple of weeks ago, only tiring close home having raced enthusiastically throughout. She was beaten less than three lengths and the way she shaped there suggests she’ll be suited by the drop back to five furlongs today. She is 2 lb lower in the weights, too, so it could be worth giving her another chance to prove herself a well-handicapped filly in the calmer waters of a 0-75.
17:25 – Barrolo
BARROLO was turned over at short odds when trying to complete a hat-trick at Catterick last time, but he still ran a good race in defeat, just not coping as well as the winner with the greater test of speed. The return to a mile today will certainly be in his favour and the manner in which he pulled five lengths clear of the rest suggests a 2 lb higher mark won’t be an issue, either. In a weak finale, he can provide 7 lb claimer Archie Young with the first win of his career in the saddle.
