Last-time-out winners Bungle Bay and Kodi Dancer have been nudged up just 3lb and 2lb respectively and should go well once more. A few of the others are well treated, though, including the expensive-to-follow and wide-drawn Thegreatestshowman, Mostallim and CHAMPAGNE SUPANOVA. Preference is for the last-named runner, whose two C&D wins came off higher marks and who’s gone well fresh before. Mostallim is second choice.
A few of these may ultimately be best served by a bit further, notably Commander Of Life, but an easy 6f will be fine for MACANUDO, who took another forward step last time. St Lukes Chelsea and the wide-drawn Zipster are interesting newcomers.
This mark should be within range for the quirky Nuthatch if the hood helps her settle but she’s looking exposed now and the lightly raced OKAMI gets the nod in the hope that he gets away better on his handicap debut. Kitten Gloves is another to consider.
The vote goes to TOTNES, who’s 2-3 on the AW and has been running well enough in better company on turf lately. Wadacre Gomez was in the process of showing more back on the AW before action halted in the void race at Wolverhampton last time and is worth a look, as is Tarbaan, who didn’t have the race run to suit last time.
Arctic Mountain (second choice) and Motriff are interesting newcomers but ALEXANDRETTA has done enough to think she can win at this level and there is improvement to come now she is tackling 1m on the AW for the first time. Endless Power had an unhappy experience on soft ground last month but his previous Polytrack run puts him firmly in the picture.
This is an easy 1m but course winner Inverinate will want to settle better if he’s to avoid a third straight defeat. A number of the others have something to prove, so it could be worth chancing the potential of DAAREE, whose dam is a half-sister to a few useful AW winners and who starts handicap life, having been gelded, at a lowly level in first-time headgear.
