Miss Fedora (second choice) deserves a change of luck and Never No Trouble’s recent hurdling efforts are hard to knock, but if LADY GWEN has benefited from a change of scenery then she has the ability to win a race of this nature.
If there’s one runner open to any improvement that horse is SAXON QUEEN (NAP), who has returned from a long absence in good order. Classic Concorde will go well if backing up his latest effort and Bright Sunbird also makes the shortlist.
The likelihood of a strong pace (with Mercian Prince in the field) heightens interest in ROMANOR, who got hampered when third to second choice Cracking Destiny here before running another sound race last week. This is a tight handicap, however, with all six runners commanding respect.
Only the two should count and TITANIUM MOON and Carrigeen Kampala are mares with similar profiles having comfortably defied their double penalties. The McCain mare may have achieved that bit more, as RPR and Topspeed figures would imply.
Opening Bid is on a roll and not opposed lightly but GOLD LINK still has potential and might be the answer. Emma Lavelle’s 7 year old travelled strongly for a long way on his chasing debut at Cartmel and will be hard to beat here if a recent wind op aids his finishing effort. Norley also warrants serious consideration.
An open bumper and, despite there being plenty of win/placed form on show, it’s not a strong race. JEUDIDEE was popular in the market at Warwick and won that race fairly readily. Tineggiori’s Hexham win can be upgraded and he’s feared most along with Minella Rescue.
