14:30 – Carolina Reaper

Al Hujaija and Squeaker are much respected with both having gone down narrowly on their latest starts, but CAROLINA REAPER sets a useful standard on her close sixth in the Chesham four weeks ago and a reproduction of that would make her hard to beat. A market move for any of the newcomers should be noted, with Asteverdi perhaps the most interesting given the season the stable is having with its 2 year olds.

15:05 – Abate

An interesting sprint. Almaty Star could fare better now handicapping in a hood having been gelded since his last run. Equiano Springs has a fine record at Newmarket and is high on the shortlist but the two to appeal most are Just A Spark and ABATE. The former won well back up to 6f three weeks ago but Abate has looked as good as ever this year and he could take some pegging back over same course and distance (C&D) that suits him well.

15:40 – Bopedro

Hafeet Alain remains well treated despite a 5lb rise for this latest all-the-way C&D success and is respected even if an uncontested lead isn’t certain this time. The 3yos Liberty Lane and Saxon King are well worth a second look, while the ultra-consistent Dutch Decoy can again be expected to give his all in his bid to maintain his unbeaten record over C&D. However, the vote goes to BOPEDRO following his close sixth in the Buckingham Palace whilst his latest York effort can be forgiven. The return to 1m looks to be in his favour.

16:15 – Novakai

Sound Angela and Time Lock look the pick of the 4yos, especially the latter after her fourth in the Lancashire Oaks last time. However, this race has gone to a 3yo five times in the last six years and can do so again courtesy of NOVAKAI. She couldn’t get into the Prix de Diane last time, but her runner-up finishes in the Fillies’ Mile and Musidora make good reading at this level and her pedigree suggests she could even improve for the longer trip.

The unbeaten Truthful has much more on her plate this time, but she remains open to any amount of improvement and could emerge as the main threat.

16:50 – I Still Have Faith

Ala Kaifi is the least exposed in the field and only went down by a short head last time, so could find a bit more now making his handicap debut. Twilight Guest may appreciate the return to a more galloping track, but the vote goes to I STILL HAVE FAITH who has responded well to the fitting of a hood including when battling on well to break his duck at Nottingham last time. Twoforthegutter, third behind him that day, is 3lb better off and shouldn’t be far away again.

17:25 – Candle Of Hope (NAP)

Star Of Orion has dropped 3lb lower than when winning this race two years ago and commands respect, as does Final Watch whose record over C&D reads 1221, his latest win coming eight days ago. However, four of the last five runnings of this race have gone to a 3yo (including the last three) and CANDLE OF HOPE (NAP) can continue the trend. She ran well to finish fifth on handicap debut in the 1m Sandringham last month, but gave the impression this return to 7f would be in her favour.
