13:50 – GUSHING GOLD
GUSHING GOLD is bred to be useful – she’s by Blue Point and out of a listed winner – and she showed plenty of ability when finishing runner-up on debut at Leicester in May, pulling well clear of the third. She then faced a stiff task in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot but ran creditably in mid-division and she can put her experience to good use back in maiden company. She sets a good standard for the newcomers to aim at.
14:25 – MAXIMUM DIVIDEND
MAXIMUM DIVIDEND was sent off at a big price on debut in a Sandown novice that has been used as a launchpad for some talented sorts, and he showed plenty of ability to finish runner-up. Maximum Dividend ran on strongly inside the final furlong and would likely have won in another stride or two, so he should be tough to beat here if making the anticipated improvement.
15:00 – WARM SPELL
WARM SPELL, a 260,000 guineas purchase as a yearling, produced a promising first effort when runner-up in a six-furlong novice at Goodwood last month. He was no match for a useful rival who had the benefit of a run under his belt, but he was clear second best and is entitled to improve for the experience, while he ought to stay seven furlongs.
15:35 – DASHO LENNIE
DASHO LENNIE was beaten less than a length in fourth on his handicap debut at Ascot in May, when he did well to finish as close as he did after being ridden patiently in a steadily-run race, and he shaped as if still in form when runner-up at Leicester last time. He was no match for the rapidly improving winner but he proved best of the rest and remains with potential.

16:10 – SPRING FEVER
SPRING FEVER offered encouragement without winning in novice company and she has progressed well since entering handicaps. She made a successful handicap debut at Redcar in May and after finishing a creditable second at Salisbury she returned to winning ways at Newmarket a few weeks ago. She scored with plenty in hand on that occasion, drawing five and a half lengths clear, and, with this step up in trip unlikely to prove an issue, she can defy a 10 lb rise in the weights to underline that she’s a smart prospect.
16:45 – ASADANA
ASADANA failed to meet expectations in the Coventry Stakes but he had created an excellent impression when making a winning debut at Ripon and is worth another chance. Asadna bolted up by 12 lengths in a very fast time on debut, identifying himself as an exciting prospect. He failed to reproduce that sort of form in a much more competitive environment at Royal Ascot but the level he ran to at Ripon marks him out as the one to beat here on his first start since joining Alice Haynes from George Boughey.
17:20 – OUTGUN
Outgun shaped with promise in novice company and he stepped up on those efforts when third on his handicap debut at Newbury last month, running on well to fare best of those who raced up the centre. OUTGUN shaped better than the bare result would suggest on his return at Newbury and, with that outing likely to have taken some of the freshness out of him, he looks capable of raising his game again.
