13:50 – Newbury – Al Aasy

ITV Saturday gets under way here with a Listed race over 1m2f. AL AASY ran a stinker when last seen but with a British Horseracing Authority (BHA) rating of 113 he’s hard to oppose. The William Haggas inmate has been a hot favourite in three previous runs at Newbury, scoring twice at 6-4F and 10-11F but being turned over at 4-6F in a Group 3 here last September. On his listed from from Ascot last term he’s a certainty but you never quite know with this boy.

14:05 – Market Rasen – Pink Eyed Pedro (each-way)

ITV also go jumping Saturday starting with this handicap hurdle over an extended 2m4f. Not many of these are proven at this trip but one who loves it is PINK EYED PEDRO for Connor Brace and David Brace. The Southwell winner was last seen finishing second at Stratford and went up 2lb for that defeat but might still have more to come. Might be an each-way price.

14:25 – Newbury – Novel Legend (each-way)

Here’s a handicap over an extended 2m. Easy for me to have a decent wager each-way on NOVEL LEGEND for James Fanshawe and William Buick. Unlike some of these, my hope is a proven strong stayer and comes here on the back of a fine seventh in the Ascot Stakes at the Royal meeting. Prior to that he had been a decent second in the Chester Plate – the consolation for the Chester Cup. On the same mark as at Ascot and should go well.

15:00 – Newbury – Rohaan (each-way)

The Group 3 Hackwood Stakes over 6f. A wide open dash. Is this the day ROHAAN bounces back to form for Dave Evans and Adam Kirby who will be desperate to get a big one with mounts on short supply due to his weight. Rohaan wasn’t totally disgraced at Ascot last time in a handicap over 5f and he’s much better at this trip. It might have sharpened him up. An each-way chance.

15:15 – Market Rasen – Francky Du Berlais

A big handicap chase over an extended 2m5f. FRANCKY DU BERLAIS took this for my blog last year and I think he can do it again. My hope ran an eye-catching third at this track last time and is only 1lb higher in the handicap than twelve months ago. There are some progressive in form rivals but the Sean Bowen ridden and Peter Bowen trained ten-year-old has every chance once again.

15:35 – Newbury – Relief Rally

The cavalry charge which is the Super Sprint for youngsters over 5f. I’m all over RELIEF RALLY here as I was at Royal Ascot when she was just touched off in the Queen Mary. My hope was beaten there but would have won in another stride. She had looked good at Salisbury before that and this is a big chance for William Haggas and Tom Marquand.

15:45 – The Curragh – Be Happy (each-way)

Some Classic action from Ireland with the Group 1 Irish Oaks over 1m4f. Savethelastdance will take all the beating. I’m going to suggest a little bit each-way on BE HAPPY provided there are eight runners. The Billy Lee-ridden runner, one of many for Aidan O’Brien, was pulled out the Oaks but had been a fine second in the Lingfield trial and I suspect she has plenty of ability. Stays and will enjoy the going so I’ll risk an each-way wager.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
