Though possibly vulnerable at the time of his fall two out at Wexford, THE LAST MARDI, hot favourite then, again has strong credentials. Fameaftertheglory has been frustrating over jumps but has a considerable edge in experience over fellow bumper winners Black Bamboo and Walmix.

17:30 – EFFERNOCK FIZZ

There is a question mark against the generally admirable EFFERNOCK FIZZ on recent form but she will be hard to beat if near her best. Gordon Elliott’s pair Hollymount and Shesadream are the ones most likely to benefit if the selection fails to deliver a display in keeping with her 130 rating.

18:00 – PENNY JAR

With the benefit of a recent run on the Flat PENNY JAR (nap) looks to maintain the trend of sustained progress shown in the first half of last season. Navigator Jack appeals on his Bellewstown second, and last year’s winner Vale Of Glory could go well.

18:35 – CEANNDANA

An 8lb rise for a ready Downpatrick win seems plenty fair for CEANNDANA, who gets to race off a 1lb lower mark under mandatory penalty here and if handling the likely softer conditions could well follow up. Loup De Tallane has no problem with soft ground and looks a solid alternative, while another to consider is Coco Lightning. Naturally Blond is chasing a three-timer in the race but the ground may be going against him.
