Putting up such a strong show in the Coventry at Royal Ascot makes WATCH MY TRACER very hard to oppose. Jubilee Walk makes easily the most appeal among the others who have run, while an interesting group of newcomers may be headed by Ever Driven and Havanagreattime.
There’s no outstanding form but the best of it belongs to CROCUS TIME last time out at Newmarket where she shaped as if this step back from 7f may well help. Ikhtiary looked far too green to do himself justice at Bath so did well in the end and he is second on the list, ahead of Trevor and Piz Nair who have also shown ability and promise. However, market support for newcomer Kodiac Thriller should be noted.
Well-bred colt MATLOOB began his career with two underwhelming runs but he created a good impression when finishing strongly to win readily at Wolverhampton three weeks ago and he’s open to significant further progress in nurseries and beyond. Mariamne will find this much easier than her latest assignment and is a contender on her earlier form, while Chinese Knot did well to finish third from the outside stall at Sandown last month.
Coco Bear bids to extend his perfect season and if there is soft in the going description he will command serious respect. Vape, Treacherous and Mojomaker (second choice) all have claims but the blinkers are back on JUSTCALLMEPETE (NAP) today and he can take his next step up the sprinting ladder.
At opposite ends of the weights, two of these arrive on a hat-trick but Mr Fustic has been winning on the all weather (AW) and MY AMBITION has been been winning on firm ground. It won’t be firm today but good going would probably be okay for My Ambition and he gets the vote in the hope of drying ground, having obliged with some comfort on his last two starts. Ascari is feared most given his reappearance promise and the gelding operation he’s had since his latest start. Dream Of Mischief and Ardbraccan are also considered.
Marco Botti’s SILVER GUNN cost favourite backers here six weeks ago but that was just one week after a run at this track which reads very well and would give him every chance today. There have been some blips elsewhere over the last year for Eklil but he won at Lingfield on his latest start and he’s also won once and been placed four times from a total of five races at Windsor. He’s second on the list, ahead of Wonder Starelzaam on his return to 1m2f.
Absolute Queen chases three wins in a row and should go well but she faces serious opposition. The Prescott runner TIFFANY won’t have escaped anyone’s notice, with this trip surely a much better fit than the 7f over which she grabbed a novice win on the AW. She gets the vote but the twice-raced Whispering Royal (second choice) is also unexposed and he could be a big threat, while Natzor is interesting with his step back up in distance.
