Each and every day of the racing year we bring you a bumper NAPS table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.

Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.

So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…

14:00 York – Wild Lion (Daily Mail)

Having been a game winner over 7f here in first-time cheekpieces last month, the lightly raced Godolphin 5yo WILD LION can follow up now back up in trip. The drop back in distance is an interesting move for Aramaic and he is second choice ahead of last year’s one-two Eilean Dubh and Blue For You.

14:20 Ascot – Angel Bleu (The Sun)

A tricky puzzle to solve, not least as there’s rain in the forecast, suggesting the ground is likely to be softer than the good to firm at the time of writing. With that in mind the suggestion is ANGEL BLEU, who boasts a 5-6 record on softer than good and ran well in the Queen Anne here last month considering he suffered quite bad interference just over 2f out. The classy Master Of The Seas has achieved RPRs which are good enough to win this in a normal year so he’s second choice ahead of Mighty Ulysses. Aldaary would also need considering if the ground does go soft.

15:10 York – Millebosc (Telegraph)

Recent impressive winners Sea The Casper, Nobel and Long Tradition are ahead of the handicapper under their 5lb penalties, while Sonny Liston is also well in at the weights off the same mark as for his fine second in the Royal Hunt Cup. However, William Haggas has a good record in the John Smith’s Cup and this year’s running could go to MILLEBOSC on his second stable start. He was third in the Group 1 Prix du Jockey Club in 2021 and this is his first run since being gelded. Long Tradition is unexposed in the hood and is feared most, ahead of Sea The Casper, while Pride Of America’s claims will be boosted if the ground is slower than good.

16:00 Newmarket – Biggles (The Racing Post)

Another chance is given to BIGGLES, who raced away from the main action when beaten favourite in the Buckingham Palace. He has a solid overall record over this distance and still leaves the impression there’s a good prize in him. Second choice is the useful 3yo Streets Of Gold, who looks well treated back at handicap level. Star Of Orion, off a handy mark, is third on the shortlist ahead of Spangled Mac who has hit his time of year (he was 4-4 last July). Last year’s winner Bless Him has clear possibilities if the race again pans out favourably and Awaal looks a big player if he copes with the return to 7f.
