Ryan Moore rode Westeron for the first time at Sandown last time and got off the mark at the sixth time of asking. The handicapper was maybe a little harsh putting him up 9lbs for that win, but it was a good performance and he’s held his form well this season. In an open-looking three-year-old handicap, he’d look a solid enough each-way bet for me.
Bopedro is a likeable horse who likes a strong gallop to aim at and although it’s a small field, Able Kane should make it a good test from the front. It should set up well for him. He’s a couple of lengths to find with Northern Express on their Royal Ascot run but he’ll be an each-way price and he’s interest me.
Even though there’s only five runners, it’s an interesting race. Star Of Mystery’s form of her two wins can be questioned but the manner in which she’s won both suggests she deserves to be around an even money chance for this. Her two main rivals bring solid runs in the Albany into this, but I think they’ll have to improve to beat the Godolphin filly so she’s my selection to justify favouritism.
Danny Tudhope possibly went for home too soon last time at Royal Ascot so Live Your Dream did very well to finish as close as he did. That was just his second start in over 18 months and the fact he’s put two good runs together back-to- back off such a long absence is a positive. This race is competitive without having lots of depth to it so I think he’ll be bang there even conceding 7lbs and upwards to his nine rivals.
Remarquee put a disappointing run in the 1,000 Guineas on soft ground well behind her last time in the Coronation Stakes back on better ground. We can be more confident about her chances because of that. The three-year-old’s receive 9lbs from their older rivals and a lot of them look beatable to me. There should be a decent gallop in this so the quicker they go early the better for Remarquee who looks a very solid each-way bet. Via Sistina has never won over this trip and it’s a quick enough turnaround from the Curragh, so I’m inclined to oppose her.
Life In The Park was eight lengths behind Tullybeg last time, but is 14lb off with that rival now. There’s still room for improvement in this six-year-old you’d imagine. There doesn’t look to be anything laid out for this so I can see Life In The Park putting up a good showing and at least being involved at the finish.
