13:50 – Tower Of London
TOWER OF LONDON is bred to stay well – he is a brother to Irish Derby and St Leger winner Capri – so it is no surprise he has shown much improved form since moving up in trip the last twice. He was strong in the betting when resuming winning ways in a mile and a half listed event at Leopardstown last month and he was much too good for his rivals over slightly further on his handicap debut 19 days ago.
Tower of London was very strong at the finish that day, suggesting he’ll relish this even longer trip, and he can fully cement his position as a leading contender for the St Leger with another victory here. Queen’s Vase runner-up Saint George rates an obvious danger, while Klondike has come a long way in a short time and should have more to offer.
14:25 – Mountain Bear
MOUNTAIN BEAR was badly in need of the experience on his debut over six furlongs at the Curragh last month, but he proved a different proposition when opening his account over the same course and distance 13 days ago. He was much sharper and is probably worth marking up too given how the rest of those who raced in the centre group to halfway fared.
Mountain Bear was strong at the finish, leaving the impression he had even more to offer if the situation allowed it, and he is well worth his place at this level with further progress on the cards. Norfolk Stakes runner-up Malc is feared most with the step up in trip likely to be in his favour, whilst Purosangue hails from a yard whose juveniles tend to come on plenty from their first outing and is also much respected.

15:00 – Be Frank
This is a red-hot sprint handicap for three-year-olds and preference is for BE FRANK, who has proved a different proposition following a gelding operation this season. He still looked inexperienced but was strong at the finish when making a winning return at Salisbury, and he proved his opening mark a lenient one when following up on handicap debut at Windsor last time. Once again, he impressed with his strength at the finish, and he should have even more to offer. The form of last month’s valuable handicap at York is well represented with the first four home, led by the thriving Quinault, who seems sure to go close again with old rival Washington Heights.
15:35 – Adayar
Just a small field for this year’s renewal of this Group 2 event and it looks an excellent opportunity for ADAYAR to resume winning ways. He has been lightly raced in recent years, but looked good when winning on his return on the Rowley Mile in May, and he ran respectably when third in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot last month. He seems sure to appreciate this return to a mile and a half and will be hard to beat if running to form. Israr, who has finished runner-up both starts this season, is expected to pose the biggest threat.

16:10 – Sacred Angel
SACRED ANGEL shaped well in a fair contest on her debut at Pontefract last month. Unable to get in breaking from one of the widest stalls and doing well to finish as close as she did considering. She kept on well in the closing stages without being knocked about and seems sure to take a big step forward now. That may be good enough to see her come home in front, with Key To Cotai, who sets the standard, feared most, while Ornellaia and Dubai Treasure are a couple of very interesting debutantes.
16:45 – Imperial Emperor
This looks like a very interesting renewal of this listed race where you can make a strong case for most. However, the Charlie Appleby-trained IMPERIAL EMPEROR has made a big impression in winning both of his starts so far, scoring with plenty in hand on his return from nine months off over course and distance 19 days ago.
He travelled well and had plenty in hand at the line, running to a high level on just his second start, and he looks a most exciting prospect. Nostrum ran to a smart level as a juvenile, finishing third in the Dewhurst on his final start, and is just the type to make up into an even better three-year-old. He is making his belated reappearance now and shouldn’t be underestimated.
17:20 – Glenfinnan
GLENFINNAN displayed race-by-race progress in three starts as a juvenile and got off the mark over this trip at Yarmouth on his final start in September. With his form containing plenty of substance, he could well be worth chancing to make light of an absence, with the prospect of more to come now handicapping from what looks a potentially lenient mark. Fellow three-year-olds Bodorgan and Good Karma head up the dangers, with Titian one of the older brigade to note, also.
