There looks to be a big enough price gap in the market to take Klondike ahead of the two market leaders in Tower of London and Saint George. The latter got to within half the distance (one and a half lengths) of Gregory that Klondike did when they met, but Klondike was only having his second start and wasn’t given an overly-hard race. He’s entitled to come on plenty for that run.
I wouldn’t fully trust the Norfolk Stakes form at Royal Ascot and it looks as though the market has the same reservations about Malc, Thunder Blue and Toca Madera. Purosangue is the most likely winner given his impressive debut win at Haydock over 5f a month ago. He looked a well-balanced colt so this track should be fine for him although it’s a no-bet race for me as he doesn’t appeal at the price of about 2/1 on the early show.
Clive Cox tries first-time cheek pieces on Eminency and they may well make a difference. He seems to be saving a bit for himself in his races, but he wasn’t far behind both Quinault and Washington Heights at York last time. If the headgear brings out just a little improvement he surely has to be bang there in a wide-open contest where Paddy is paying 5 places if they all go to post.
Adayar is rated 10lbs superior to the next best rated in Israr (111) but his price reflects that. The 2021 Epsom Derby and King George winner should take this comfortably and is one for the multiples!
This is a competitive handicap and Lan Cinnte ran really well on her handicap debut off a mark of 83 over 7f at the Curragh, 11 days ago. She’s been put up 4lbs by the handicapper but Jamie Powell’s 5lbs claim negates that so she’s weighted to run well. Getting the three-year-old allowance is also a big help so there looks to be plenty in her favour if she can see out this 1m 1f trip.
