13:50 – Saint George

ITV go to the July meeting at Newmarket this week starting here with the Group 3 Bahrain Trophy, over 1 mile, 5 furlongs for 3yo and often seen as a trial for the St Leger. Tower of London is interesting but I’m happy to keep the faith with SAINT GEORGE for Andrew Balding and with young Cieren Fallon on top with Oisin Murphy suspended. Saint George was progressing with wins at Southwell and Doncaster but then ran 16lb above his form when chasing home Gregory in the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot. That was a cracking effort and there might be more to come. Stays well.

14:25 – Lake Forest

This is the Group 2 July Stakes for youngsters colts and geldings over 6 furlongs. Malc might have been flattered at Royal Ascot being in a group of seven. I’ll chance LAKE FOREST for the excellent pair of William Haggas and Tom Marquand. The son of No Nay Never made a pleasing debut when scoring at Haydock first time. He was slow away and off the pace before coming through smoothly and ran on well. I have no idea if he’s up to this but he’s very promising.

15:00 – Eminency (each-way)

A handicap for 3yo over 6f. EMINENCY should be in the frame here for Clive Cox and is an each-way selection under John Fahy. My hope ran really well behind three of these at York last time and was doing his best work at the finish there. This slightly stiffer course should suit and while he’s up another 1lb there might still be more to come.

15:35 – Adayar

Another Group 2 in the Princess of Wales’s Stakes over 1m 4f. I’m sure ADAYAR wants soft ground but he should be too good for this lot in any case. The former Derby and King George hero was only third and well beaten when last seen in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot behind Mostahdaf. That was over a mile and a quarter and he will be better suited to this distance. Goes for Charlie Appleby and William Buick.

So best off luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
