This looks a bit trappy but it might be worth siding with James Fanshawe’s 4yo LAILAH, who was a creditable third behind a major improver at Leicester two weeks ago and is a big player if she can find a bit extra at this new trip. Hidden Pearl scored in good style over 1m6f at Yarmouth on her penultimate run and she’s feared most ahead of Jenny Ren and Urban Forest.
Top of the list is triple sprint winner ALL IN THE HIPS (NAP), who is versatile ground-wise and hit a personal best with her close call at this track two weeks ago. She’s on the same mark as for that clear second and has leading claims if she can back that up. Beau Roc is feared most on her drop back in trip/grade, although Katar was only just caught at Salisbury on her penultimate run and is a big player if she can recapture that form. Another to keep an eye on is the handicap newcomer Autumn Lights.
reference is for triple course winner WERE REUNITED, who made all over 5.7f here in May and backed that up with a good third over the same same course and distance (C&D) last week. This 6yo a big player again on this drop back in trip and he gets the vote ahead of Atty’s Edge, who is on dangerous mark and showed signs of a revival with his third at Chepstow last time. The reliable 4yo Therehegoes also enters the reckoning, along with Fair And Square and Coronation Cottage who both ran well in a classified event here last Wednesday.
Lunatick has the best form but he’s been disappointing in handicaps in his last two starts and needs to get back on track. Sealine was an eyecatcher at Nottingham last time and is open to more progress, while Dartman and the once-raced Moonspirit also enter the reckoning. However, the vote goes to ZARAZA, who was heavily backed when a creditable third against a pace bias at Thirsk last month and still has potential for William Haggas.
With further progress on the cards, KRACKING is taken to follow up his Leicester win. Solid-looking handicap debutantes Midsummer Music (second choice) and Beautifulasalways are worthy of respect, while Alice Knyvet may prove dangerous if settling better in the hood.
Gallimimus made it 3-5 in handicaps with his emphatic win at Brighton last week and he’s strongly respected under a penalty but slight preference is for the resurgent 6yo GALACTIC GLOW, who has won over C&D in three of his last four starts and remains well treated on his old form. The others on the shortlist in this interesting race are Blue Hero, who has won twice here this season, and Pink Lily, who has form figures of 3331241 in handicaps at this trip.
