14:10 – Keep Warm
KEEP WARM hinted at ability on his debut at Ripon in April and he showed the benefit of that experience when faring better at Carlisle on his next start. He wasn’t suited by the drop back to five furlongs at the same course last time, but he has the potential for even better now handicapping in a first-time visor, especially from what looks a fair opening mark. Celestial Flight and Time Signature are also of interest in an open nursery.
14:45 – Star Ahoy
STAR AHOY is bred to be smart and he has improved a chunk on each start so far, finishing placed behind a potentially smart sort at Newmarket last time. He is a brother to high-class Mutakayyef, who won over a mile and a quarter, so Star Ahoy seems sure to relish this step up in trip, and appears to have been found a good opportunity here. Kevin Ryan’s new recruit Jumeirah King showed some fairly useful form in France so rates the chief threat, with the consistent Iron Lion rating a solid place prospect once more.
15:20 – Purplepay
If anywhere near her best back from a three-month break, PURPLEPAY should simply outclass these rivals. She was nearer last than first in a couple of top-tier races in Australia in March and April, but her sights are lowered significantly here, and she showed what she can do when landing a Group 2 in France last summer. The Roger Varian-trained duo Zenga and Fall In Love can fill the places, with the former marginally preferred for forecast purposes.
15:55 – Summerghand
SUMMERGHAND is yet to win this season, but he has been set some stiff tasks, and his mark has fallen 7 lb since returning to handicap company three starts back. He wasn’t beaten all that far in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot last time, though, leaving the impression he is building up to something, and it is worth noting that he got better as the season wore on last year. This represents his easiest test this season and he can take advantage. Aphelios could be spot on for this after returning from a short break to finish fifth at Windsor last week and is second choice ahead of sole three-year-old Kitai.

16:30 – Billy No Mates
BILLY NO MATES looked rusty on his return at Thirsk in April but fared much better when hitting the frame at Doncaster on his next start. However, he wasn’t seen to best effect on his latest start in a big-field handicap at York last time, racing off the pace following a tardy start and unable to get involved in a race where it paid to sit more prominently. He has now fallen 1 lb below his last winning mark and arrives in better form than his most recent start suggests. The dangers are headed by a pair of three-year-olds in Spritzin’, who appeals as the type to do much better now upped markedly in trip, and Cosmic View, who arrives on the back of a career best.
17:05 – Paternoster Square
PATERNOSTER SQUARE was an expensive yearling and was well supported for his debut at Thirsk but went with little promise. He has clearly benefited for that experience, though, shaping much better on his last two starts, particularly at Windsor last time. He still looked rough around the edges on that occasion and wasn’t knocked about, so he is fancied to take another step forward now moving into handicaps from an opening mark which may underestimate him. In-form Hi Clare, who scored here a couple of starts ago, and Do I Dream are also well worthy of consideration.
