Timeform’s Chelmsford Tips

14:10 – Intinso
14:45 – Eastern Charm
15:20 – Secret Moment
15:55 – Queen Aminatu
16:30 – Monaadhil
17:05 – Azure Angel
17:40 – Democracy Dilemma

14:10 – Intinso

INTINSO has been on the sidelines since disappointing in a listed race at Newmarket in April, but he remains a colt of huge potential. He’d created an excellent impression when making a winning debut at Newcastle six months earlier and this looks a good opportunity for him to get back on track now returned to calmer waters.

14:45 – Eastern Charm

EASTERN CHARM justified very short odds with a wide-margin success at Yarmouth last time, hitting the front two furlongs out and quickly easing clear. A British Horseracing Authority (BHA) mark of 62 still looks lenient on that showing, with further progress also likely after just six starts for William Haggas, who has his team in rude health (70% of horses running to form).

15:20 – Secret Moment

SECRET MOMENT was well on top at the finish when scoring at Wolverhampton a few weeks ago, proving himself at least as good as ever after eight months off. He is 3lb higher in the weights today, but Harry Davies, who is terrific value for his 3lb claim, takes over in the saddle. That will give Secret Moment every chance if reproducing his Wolverhampton form for Saeed bin Suroor, who has a 23% strike rate at Chelmsford since the start of the 2019 season.

15:55 – Queen Aminatu

QUEEN AMINATU was below form in the Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot last time, but she is clearly a smart filly on her day, as she showed when completing a hat-trick of all-weather wins at Newcastle on Good Friday. Yet to finish out of the first three in eight starts on the all-weather, she will be back in her comfort zone now down in grade and returned to this surface, so it will be no surprise if she leaves her Ascot form behind with a big run.

16:30 – Monaadhil

MONAADHIL has struggled on his last two starts on turf, but he could be worth a chance to bounce back to his best now returned to his beloved Chelmsford. A three-time winner over this course and distance, he lines up from the same mark today as when also filling the runner-up spot here in May, while the booking of top apprentice Billy Loughnane catches the eye, too.

17:05 – Azure Angel

AZURE ANGEL shaped as if needing the run after six months off when finishing fourth on her handicap debut at Windsor in May, fading late on in very testing conditions. The way she went through that race suggests she could be worth another chance to prove herself a well-handicapped filly from a BHA mark of 86, especially as she’d looked so progressive when ending 2022 with back-to-back wins on the all-weather.

17:40 – Democracy Dilemma

DEMOCRACY DILEMMA is now only 1lb higher in the weights than when scoring at Thirsk in April and he hasn’t been running at all badly in the interim. He is down in grade today and his record on the all-weather earlier this year was a solid one. In a wide-open finale, he gets the vote to resume winning ways under Hollie Doyle, who has only ridden him twice, including when he won at Thirsk.
