A few of these like to get on with it and although Symbol Of Hope and Therehegoes should go well, this could be teed up for something more patiently ridden. Level Up (second choice) and Penguin Island are possibles, while Secret Handsheikh may step up on recent efforts, but it could be worth chancing BLUEBELL TIME. Her last two runs suggest she retains her ability and she has dropped a long way in the weights quite quickly.
Miss Show Off is easily the best of the three to have raced and she sets a good standard, particularly on her debut form. However, Andrew Balding introduces many of his better prospects at this venue (had the well-backed second in this 12 months ago) and CLOVE HITCH looks the part on paper and with a price tag to match.
Array makes plenty of appeal on paper and the betting can provide clues but in Starlust and BOYFRIEND he is up against a pair who have already displayed significant ability. Starlust still looked green when winning at Chelmsford and can rate higher but the selection shaped very nicely at Windsor and he can uphold his stable’s fantastic record in this race.
Secret Moment and Gold Medal would come right into the reckoning if replicating their AW best on turf but neither has been totally convincing on grass thus far. The 3yos Sassy Belle and Milteye (second choice) both have something to recommend them but YOUARENOTFORGIVEN is on an upward curve and the manner of his Leicester win when last seen offers hope that he can cope with his rise in the weights.
Flying Secret (second choice) looks booked for another big run but this may be best left to the unexposed EDDIE TEMPLE. Owen Burrow’s 3yo has caught the eye in maidens and his latest fifth, where he travelled strongly, offers hope he has been let into handicaps lightly.
Graham was out on his own in a three-runner 1m4f race last time and should be able to stretch most of today’s rivals. However, he may prove vulnerable to improvement from Finest Leader and handicap debutant MAN OF A’AN, with the former having needed every yard to get up on his first venture over 1m2f and the latter being by Highland Reel, which suggests that he too will be suited by taking on this trip for the first time and that’s also the visual impression.
Several of these could still bring potential, including LUNAR LANDSCAPE (nap) who seemed to be working up a head of steam late in the day over this trip at Salisbury, only to be hampered. Island Luck may be the chief danger, having shown promise on the Kempton AW last time, as did Golden Phase, while Exertive could build on his reappearance second at Windsor.
