14:10 – Unplugged

Unplugged looked unlucky not to score on his return in a mile-and-a-half handicap here in May – he was denied a clear run when going well – but he quickly gained a measure of compensation at Haydock last month, scoring in straightforward fashion by two and a quarter lengths. He ended last season in good form and has returned better than ever so looks capable of defying a 3 lb rise in the weights for his Haydock success. The drop in trip isn’t a concern as he won over this course and distance last season.

14:40 – Glendown

Glendown remains a maiden after eight starts but he went close to getting off the mark in a six-furlong handicap at Redcar nine days ago when he was caught on the line by one who had tumbled in the weights. The return to five furlongs shouldn’t be an issue – he had finished runner-up over five furlongs at Haydock on his previous start – and he should launch another bold bid after a 2 lb rise in the weights.

15:15 – Twilight Romance

Twilight Romance offered encouragement when third behind The Camden Colt on his debut at Haydock in May, pulling clear of the remainder, and he built on that promise to get off the mark at York last month. He impressed with his strength at the finish to pull two and three-quarter lengths clear of the reopposing We Never Stop, clocking a good time in the process, and with more improvement to come he appeals as a useful sprinter in the making.

15:50 – Rogue Tornado

Rogue Tornado failed to make much of an impact in a trio of mile maidens/novices but, having been gelded, he showed much improved form when upped markedly in trip on his handicap debut at Yarmouth last month. Rogue Tornado lost out by just a neck in that 11-and-a-half-furlong handicap after doing some good late work and he left the impression that there’s even better to come. He can defy a 2 lb rise in the weights and get off the mark.

16:25 – Tropez Power

Tropez Power is able to run off a lower mark on turf than the all-weather and he has been shaping up well of late, finishing runner-up on his last two outings. Tropez Power has impressed with how powerfully he has travelled through his races, and his latest effort can be marked up a bit as he was caught further back than ideal. He looks well handicapped off the same mark here and, with a strong gallop forecast, he could have the race run to suit.

17:00 – Corinthia Knight

Corinthia Knight goes well around here – he’s a five-time course-and-distance winner – and he ran a sound race on his return from a break when fourth over this track and trip last month, producing his best effort for a while. That was an encouraging return to action from Corinthia Knight and, with trainer Archie Watson’s horses in good order, he ought to give a good account from his reduced mark.
