I like Batal Dubai with Oisin Murphy on board for Harry & Roger Charlton. He has winning form at Newcastle when winning here over 6f last season. He’s had two okay runs on turf since and he’s off a solid rating.
Charlie Appleby’s runners struggled at Royal Ascot but his strike rate isn’t actually that bad over the last few weeks – and I fancy Star Of Mystery. What A Question was impressive on her debut at Goodwood but I was taken by Star Of Mystery’s win at Haydock last time out.
I was looking at Mount Athos and Tiber Flow as you could make a case for both, with the former probably having better form. However, I just kept coming back to Brad The Brief for Hugo Palmer. His form is far better so I’m just hoping that Hugo has him fit enough to win after a long layoff.
I like La Hacienda, who had a decent return this season when third to Powerful Aggie in a listed race at Down Royal. He had decent enough form last year and he runs off a mark of 85, which is workable. Harry Davies is on board and he claims 3lbs too.
I’m siding with Vino Victrix for Hughie Morrison and Benoit de la Sayette at a decent price. I’m going to excuse his second run of the season at Chester and he had a pleasing enough comeback start at Newbury. He could be on the wrong part of the track but he’ll do me.

13:15 Newmarket – Al Aasy
This small and tactical field is made up for Al Aasy to beat New London. He always goes well fresh and this suits him down to the ground.
13:30 – Newcastle – La Hacienda
I like La Hacienda, who had a decent return this season when third to Powerful Aggie in a listed race at Down Royal. He had decent enough form last year and he runs off a mark of 85, which is workable. Harry Davies is on board and he claims 3lbs too.
13:50 – Newmarket – Berkshire Shadow
I fancy Berkshire Shadow. The drop in grade will suit him and I don’t see Pogo turning the form on him from the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.
14:05 Newcastle – Vino Victrix
I’m siding with Vino Victrix for Hughie Morrison and Benoit de la Sayette at a decent price. I’m going to excuse his second run of the season at Chester and he had a pleasing enough comeback start at Newbury. He could be on the wrong part of the track but he’ll do me.
