13:40 – City Of Troy
We start with a 7f maiden (horses who haven’t won a race) for two-year-olds. There’s very little form to go on and it usually pays to look to the Ballydoyle newcomers in a contest like this. Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore team up with debutant City Of Troy who is a Justify colt out of a Galileo mare. Say no more!
14:15 – Matrika
The Group 2 Airlie Stud Stakes over 6f could go the way of another Ballydoyle runner Matrika. She won her maiden at this venue on debut in May and had a solid run at Royal Ascot last time when chasing home Porta Fortuna in the Group 3 Albany Fillies Stakes.
14:50 – Ice Cold In Alex
The first big-runner field of the afternoon is the 6f sprint handica Ice Cold In Alex is drawn in stall 10 and the Ken Condon yard is in form. Two solid efforts on his most recent two runs could see the nine-year-old go close at a course he performs well at.

15:25 – Never Ending Story
The Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes over 1m 2f has attracted a stellar field as you’d expect and Never Ending Story is improving and can bag a maiden Group 1 win.
16:00 – Mashhoor
Not to be outdone, Paddy’s sponsoring the Group 3 International Stakes over the same distance as the Pretty Polly Stakes. We know for a fact that this prize is staying at home as the five runners are all Irish trained. Mashhoor has a fitness edge over Al Riffa and Alfred Munnings, which could be key.
16:35 – Pachmena
The Ladies’ Derby is always a highlight of the Derby Festival and Gavin Cromwell’s Pachmena was a little unlucky when second behind stablemate Vera Verto last time. She can go one better now.
17:10 – Space Age
A three-year-old maiden is the penultimate race on the card and this time Space Age can put his experience of having run in three races to good use and land this prize. Was only beaten a neck by Subzero last time.
17:40 – Sheishybird
The curtain comes down on the Saturday card with a tricky two-mile handicap but Noel Meade’s Sheishybrid has improved on each of her last two starts. She is definitely going in the right direction and can go close under 5lb claimer Adam Caffrey.
