13:35 – Whispering Royal

It probably wasn’t the strongest of maidens that WHISPERING ROYAL landed on his sole two-year-old start at Dundalk for Barry Fitzgerald but it was a promising introduction nonetheless. He has since been purchased for 75,000 guineas, is likely to benefit from this step up in trip and is taken to maintain his unbeaten status on debut for new connections. Intergalacticat took a step forward when third in a Yarmouth handicap in April and will be a big threat if responding well to the first-time cheekpieces, while Ala Kaifi should also have a part to play, also.

14:10 – Okeanos

This is an open, big-field sprint handicap and preference is for OKEANOS, who opened his account over seven furlongs at Wolverhampton in April, and posted a very good effort on his turf debut when beaten a head in second at Redcar last week. He took a keen hold, but quickened to lead entering the final furlong and was only edged out in the final 100 yards. The drop back to six furlongs may help him now and he is expected to go well with a claimer now taking 7lb off. Captain Vallo, who came home first in his group when third at Thirsk last time, is feared, along with Foreseeable Future.

14:45 – Stormy Waves

This looks like a novice event that should be followed in the coming weeks and months with some interesting newcomers and lightly-raced sorts open to improvement. It is STORMY WAVES who stands out on paper, a typically well-bred sort who fetched 525,000 guineas as a yearling, and represents a yard that has plenty of first-time-out two-year-old winners. Arabic Legend is another son of Dubawi and much respected, while Bigbertiebassett outran his odds at Newbury on debut and is the pick of those with experience.

15:20 – Pledgeofallegiance

PLEDGEOFALLEGIANCE was backed as though defeat was out of the question on his handicap debut over a mile and a half at Lingfield two starts back, but he was unable to land the odds, not suited by a steady pace at the trip and having no answer for the speedier winner in the closing stages. However, he showed much improved form upped further in trip and fitted with first-time cheekpieces when opening his account at Redcar last month, making all of the running and having a bit in hand.

This even longer trip will suit and he is expected to follow up after an 8lb rise. Campaign Trail himself is unexposed as a stayer and appeals as one who is certain to progress over longer distances.

15:55 – Absolute Dream

ABSOLUTE DREAM was a three-time winner last season and he took a step back in the right direction when finishing third in a handicap at Thirsk earlier this month. He has fallen back to an attractive mark and is seemingly coming to the boil nicely, so this course and distance winner is a horse to be positive about. Jack Daniel is a worthy adversary on the back of a successful reappearance and Bird of Play seems likely to run well again.

16:30 – Lady Wormsley

LADY WORMSLEY’s sole start on turf came on her debut at Newbury around this time last year, but she has gone close in several all-weather handicaps since, and shaped well on her return to action at Kempton in April. The form of that race has worked out very well indeed, so she looks interesting on the back of that effort having been left on the same mark. Ellade is on a tempting mark and hasn’t run a bad race this season, while Paco’s Pride could also get involved.

17:05 – Rwenearlytheredad

RWENEARLYTHEREDAD justified good support at the second time of asking in a handicap to open his account at Beverley on Tuesday, switched out for a run entering the final furlong and having a fair bit in hand at the line despite drifting to his left. He still appeared to be learning on the job that day and, given he escapes a penalty for that success, he makes plenty of appeal in his follow-up bid. Trabajo Detecho ran well in a good race for the grade at Thirsk last time and enters calculations under an in-form apprentice, while Awtaar is another to consider.
