13:50 – Royal Expert
A big-field maiden that looks relatively open. Preference is for ROYAL EXPERT, who only has an ordinary pedigree, but fared best of the newcomers when finishing a close third at Chelmsford three weeks ago. She made good progress from the rear and ran on all the way to the line, while she is also entitled to come on for that initial experience. The runner-up has franked to the since and Royal Expert is the percentage play. Lincoln Royal and Coin Power also showed clear ability on their first visits to the racecourse and should be in the mix if making the anticipated improvement.
14:25 – Winter Crown
It may pay to concentrate on the three-year-olds in this sprint handicap and it is WINTER CROWN who makes the most appeal. He made a winning return to action at Newcastle in February and has shaped well in handicaps since, notably in a competitive Sunday Series race at Beverley earlier this month. He was drawn poorly and his chance was made worse by being carried left at the start, though he finished her race well from an unpromising position, and will be suited by this return to six furlongs. Winter Crown has been left on the same mark since and is well up to winning more races. Snuggle went close in a handicap prior to getting off the mark in a novice last time and is feared most.
15:00 – Long Ago
LONG AGO was easy to back and didn’t show much on her debut at Kempton towards the end of last year, but she proved a different proposition upped to a mile and a quarter at Chelmsford three weeks ago, well positioned but relishing the step up in trip to land a decent pot. That looked a deep contest beforehand and Long Ago remains with plenty of potential at this sort of trip. Defying a penalty against the likes of Elegancia, Mistressofillusion and Queen Emma will be no formality, but she may well be up to the job.
15:35 – Terwada
TERWADA is bred to be at least useful and attracted support on his debut at Chelmsford, shaping well while displaying clear signs of greenness. He finished up close behind a couple who had already shown plenty on that occasion, and he showed the benefit of that experience upped to a mile at Thirsk last time. He was denied a run at a crucial point but stayed on well all the way to the line, finishing with running left, and he is well up to winning a race of this nature with even more improvement expected. Rogue Fox is fitted with blinkers on just his second start but he needs considering, along with From Beyond.

16:10 – Nine Elms
This course brings out the best in NINE ELMS – he is a four-time course winner, including two over course and distance – and he ran creditably on his first outing since leaving Roy Bowring, looking in control in the final furlong (traded at 1.02 in-running on Betfair) but throwing the race away close home. All of his best form has come around this trip, however, and he is well worth backing to make amends on just his second start for this yard. Roman Dynasty is hard to win with but this represents a drop in class so he’s feared, along with Kalahari Prince.
16:45 – Mehmo
MEHMO isn’t the most reliable type, but he won twice over this trip at Southwell earlier in the year, and shaped as though in need of the run after four months off over six furlongs at this course a fortnight ago. He should be much sharper now and the booking of Oisin Murphy may be a sign of intent. Van Gerwen and Hot Scoop are others to consider, while the class-dropping Ernest Rutherford is one to keep an eye on in the betting in an open, low-grade sprint.
17:20 – Fred Bear
In a finale where a few have questions to answer the most solid option is the hat-trick seeking FRED BEAR. He showed a good attitude at Catterick last time and a 2 lb rise in the weights seems fair. Longeurue made a winning start for the Robert Eddery stable over a mile and a quarter here last month and could pose a threat if seeing out the longer trip. Similar comments apply to Rose Camira, while London Eye would enter the reckoning if the betting speaks in his favour on this first outing for John Butler.
