Empire Of Light (second choice) and Skilled Master are open to improvement on their second starts but CHEEKY BLIMEY sets a good form standard having been fourth of 15 on his debut at Leicester, and he gets the nod.
The 3yo WHATACRACKER improved again when upped to 1m2f and runner-up to a well-handicapped winner at Ayr last time, and he promises to be suited by 1m4f. He earns the vote ahead of fellow 3yo Allo Al Khawaneej who is a possible improver in first-time cheekpieces on his handicap debut. The unexposed Newbury winner Dashing Panther is next on the list.
The unexposed filly PREMIERE BEAUTY reappeared with a promising third at Haydock and is preferred to Fox Master, who also ran well last time and is open to further improvement. Crow’s Nest, Girl Magic and Fierce arrive in good form, too.
Having been denied a clear run when third at Yarmouth a fortnight ago, CROWNING is the pick ahead of the Godolphin filly Spring Dawn, who has finished second on both starts. Satirical could also be involved, while Glistened is an interesting newcomer.
The 3yo URBAN SPRAWL was a fine third in the Britannia at Royal Ascot last week and could be tough to beat today off the same mark. Mitrosonfire has a good record at this course and is feared most in the expectation he will improve for his recent reappearance run. Chola Empire is next on the list.
The progressive 3yo WILD SIDE (NAP) made it 2-2 in handicaps with a convincing win at Redcar last Friday and can defy a 6lb penalty to land the hat-trick. Man Of Eden has been running well and may be the chief threat in first-time blinkers, while Gulmarg is another consistent sort who could be involved and last night’s Kempton winner Shigar will have to be respected if turned out swiftly under a 5lb penalty.
Having won in good style at Chester recently, CAPONE can defy a 5lb rise and follow up. Last year’s winner Dereham was a close third on AW last time and is feared most ahead of Social City and Three Dragons who also ran well last time.
