Last week’s easy Ripon winner Sameem should go well again but slight preference is for SIR JOSEPH SWAN, a dual winner last year who is making his debut for Archie Watson.
William Haggas’s son of Saxon Warrior GODWINSON shaped well when third on his debut at Nottingham and with a fair bit of improvement in the pipeline looks very much the one to beat. Richard Fahey’s twice-placed Bosc Girl has more to offer and appeals as the one to chase him home ahead of newcomer Streetzoffilly.
A case can be made for all of these but the most persuasive one is for C&D scorer ABATE (nap), who came home first in his group when an excellent third at York last time and can quickly resume winning ways off an unchanged mark. Count D’Orsay is next on the list on the back of his good Thirsk second, although in-form pair Water Of Leith and Good Luck Fox need factoring in too.
Although Lochnaver is a major contender having escaped a penalty for her apprentice race win here last week, the unexposed Bath maiden winner AJYAD is taken to win on her handicap debut.
Handicap debutants Mrs Happy and Aclaim To Fame bring some potential but the most solid option looks to be KATS BOB, who scored twice over C&D last year and signalled he’s ready to go in again when an encouraging C&D fifth last time. Caribbean Sunset is feared most now back up to his optimum trip with Bonito Cavalo and Giselles Izzy in the mix too in a very open sprint.

18:30 – Ninety Nine
Having shaped well at Wetherby on her debut, NINETY NINE is taken to win on her second start with the newcomer Princess Alex the other to consider.
19:00 – Rajmeister
With the recent rain having been in his favour, RAJMEISTER can win his third race of the year with Stay Smart his main danger.
