Although Fierce is still yet to get off the mark, he’s shown plenty of ability and has rarely run a bad race in recent times. He’s ran well previously at Newmarket and made a pleasing return after being gelded last time out with a second and closing. He should come on again for that effort and he looks a horse who’s only a matter a time away from winning off this mark. The Gary Moore yard is in really good form and they have said they expect him to go close.
Micks Dream was a runner up and beaten a neck off this mark over this trip at Brighton two races back and he will welcome the return to the turf after disappointing on the polytrack at Kempton last time out. He has a good 5lb claimer in Christian Howarth in the saddle, which puts him on a very attractive mark. He ran well at the course previously and he has form tied in with Mostawaa, who has since come out and won twice. He looks overpriced and represents some nice value.
Dereham was the winner of this race last year of a 1lb higher mark with the same jockey Harry Davies in the saddle. He had a pleasing effort last time out when third at Chelmsford, staying on late, and he will appreciate the step back up in trip. He looks as if he’s been campaigned with this target in mind again and with the yard in hot form, he’s impossible to ignore.
