We’re happy to take Rhubarb each way as she has been hitting the frame a lot without getting her head in front. We can’t knock the form of her runs at Chepstow as she’s not finished outside the top four in her last three runs. She’s still on what looks a competitive mark and she handles most types of ground conditions. Saffie Osborne is booked for the ride and she looks a winner in waiting.
Hollow Steel’s price is a bit confusing. Her stable debut on her first run for 396 days wasn’t a bad showing when staying on late to grab third and she finished just 2.25 lengths off the eventual winner. She’s bound to have come on from that run and she drops another pound in the weights. We wouldn’t have it at this price by any stretch so we’ll take the value while we can and see what happens. She drops in grade to class 6 too and she can outrun that big price.
In a race that lacks pace, Animate could get a cheap lead if he wants it. It’s his first run shorter than 7f, and he’s shaped on a few occasions like it would suit. He’s unproven on the ground which is a slight concern but with the Crisford team eight from 23 in handicaps here in the last five years, I’d assume if he runs, he has a chance of taking to it. With William Buick on board, the Crisford’s are two from four here in the last year. Money has been coming for him which confirms the yards confidence and we expect a very bold showing.
