It’s been a very good week for the Aidan O’Brien team, and I feel it could be about to get better. PEARLS ANDRUBIES won over the minimum trip at Navan staying on really well to get on top close to home. She will be much sharper for that outing and going up to 7f here should not be a problem as lots of her relations have won over further than this, including her mother Diamondsandrubies who was a winner over a mile and a quarter when winning the Pretty Polly.
This son of Shamardal ran a very good race in the Irish 2000 Guineas won by Paddington and the drop back to 7 will not be a problem. QUAR SHAMAR is a big price but I feel has a very good chance in what is an open race.
It is a bold shout, running her so soon, but you would have to say she was a little unlucky on Tuesday being hampered close to home. I don’t think she would’ve won the King’s Stand Stakes but she would have finished closer. HIGHFIELD PRINCESS is equally as good over 6 furlongs. The only concern is the quick turnaround.
Owen Burrows has not had many runners this week but what he has entered have performed very well. HUKUM is smart on his day and is really versatile ground wise. He gets the nod over Pyledriver who loves Ascot.
Loves Ascot and Danny Tudhope has such a good record on the straight course at this track too. FRESH is weighted similar to when winning twice here last year. His comeback run this season was on soft ground, so you can put a line through it.
Another to run in that London Gold Cup at Newbury. The horses that finished in front of HAVE SECRET that day have all performed very well at Ascot this week, it is a very strong piece of form. I think there is more to come from this son of Havana Gold, trained by Richard Fahy.
We have had Rich Ricci in the winners enclosure this week at Royal Ascot, and a winner trained by Willie Mullins and Nicky Henderson. It will be quite fitting were we to have the JP McManus colours in the winners enclosure too, and I think DAWN RISING, who is the mount of Ryan Moore, has to be the one to round off this fantastic meeting in style. It was a decent run at Leopardstown last time out and looks all set to score.
