14:30 – Porta Fortuna
This daughter of Caravaggio won a Group 3 at Naas last time, travelling sweetly through the race and then clinging on a little towards the line – possibly being in front too long. Frankie Dettori is booked, and I think PORTA FORTUNA is the one in here.
15:05 – Little Big Bear
Roared back to form at Haydock on fast ground winning the Sandy Lane stakes last month. He was strong that day after disappointing in the 2000 Guineas and gets the nod. One that I think will be suited to conditions is Shaquille and is definitely a player each-way, but LITTLE BIG BEAR is the one.
15:40 – Okita Soushi
Ryan Moore has been booked a ride by Joseph O’Brien, and that is a statement in itself. He came from a fair way back to finish placed in the Copper Horse Handicap at the 2022 meeting last year, and he is even slightly lower this time around in the ratings. OKITA SOUSHI gets the vote in this trappy contest.
16:20 – Tahiyra
The Dermot Weld trained TAHIYRA is unlucky to not still have her unbeaten record. It was a tough task going into the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on soft ground with no prep run and interrupted preparation, but she only lost out by a neck, and made no mistake when winning the Irish 1000. She sets a high standard in here.

17:00 – Jackie Oh
Highly tried when finishing first in the Irish 1000 Guineas. It’s interesting that Aidan has gone down the handicap route with JACKIE OH. Her conqueror at Navan earlier this year, Village Voice, runs in the Ribblesdale so it kind of gives you an idea of the quality you’re dealing with.
17:35 – King of Steel
When you see this son of Wootton Bassett, you can’t believe he actually ran as a two-year-old such is his size. Put in a hell of a run in the Epsom Derby, losing out by only half a length with such little experience under his belt. With relatively few unexposed types in this contest, KING OF STEEL sets a good standard.
18:10 – Michaela’s Boy (each-way)
Mick Appleby had his first winner at Royal Ascot on Wednesday and MICHAELA’S BOY is a son of Ribchester, who showed a lot of speed at York. I think with that run under his belt is a decent each-way in this contest where it’s all about finishing strong and he kept at it really well in the last showing.
