14:30 – American Rascal

Let’s see if the big gun can stand up to the hype as he has been all the talk throughout the week as the Wesley Ward superstar. American Rascal was not extended to win on debut in the States and has a perfect pedigree. Time to see the rocket go.

15:05 – Wonder Legend

He looked a massively improved model when winning by five lengths when stepped up slightly in trip at Doncaster. I expect another step forward from Wonder Legend today as he goes extra quarter of a mile to 1m 4f. He could be nicely treated on a mark of just 94.

15:40 – Bluestocking

This twice-raced filly made a very pleasing racecourse debut with a smooth success at Salisbury last season. Despite looking a little rough around the edges, we didn’t see her again until her reappearance at Newbury in May when she was only just outpointed by Ballydoyle’s Warm Heart (who re-opposes). Bluestocking looked in need of the experience again that day and she will relish the step up in distance to 1m 4f now. That is key to her chances.

16:20 – Eldar Eldarov

Last season’s St Leger winner made an eye-catching return to action at York last time when looking to have a little blow around the furlong marker, but then powered to the line behind Giavellotto. He is the class act in the Gold Cup field and over this 2m4 distance, Eldar Eldarov can use his potent change of gear to win.

17:00 – Royal Cape (each-way) & Mustajaab (each-way)

We’ll take one from either side of the track to combat any draw bias. The consistent and lightly-raced Royal Cape didn’t get into his race until very late at Haydock last time and that run has to be upgraded on his first handicap start. He races from stall two.

Mustajaab runs from stall 23 and was just chinned by a pretty tidy sort in Yorkshire at Southwell last time. He’s a half-brother to Checkandchallenge and he’s going to appreciate this one mile test on turf in the Royal Hunt Cup.

17:35 – Torito

The Gosden’s Torito did us a favour when winning really smoothly at Epsom but has to improve again on that in this tougher Group 3, Hampton Court Stakes.

18:10 – Spirit Of Light

Spirit Of Light has run a handful of decent races since being switched across to Ian Williams’ yard and put up a smart performance over a trip short of his best at York last time. Stepping back up to 7f is ideal and expect him to be flashing home from stall 30, under the excellent James Doyle.
