14:05 Doncaster – Casey O (each way)
Royal Musketeer can be readily forgiven his last run over this specialists trip at Leicester because he was way too free in the opening exchanges and he paid for that on the uphill run to the line. Set to run off the same mark here of 73, he looks sure to run well at a price, but not be a match for both Ibiza Rocks and the local selection.
The first named clearly didn’t stay in the soft ground at Chester last time out and is likely to be a double figure price here, but Tim Easterby’s charge Casey O is readily preferred. The six-year-old lost all chance at the start on his seasonal debut when rearing up as the gates opened.
He ran on well enough at the finish, but by then the damage had been done. His regular partner Duran Fentiman takes over today and with that run behind him I think he looks very solid each-way betting material.
15:05 Gowran – Kodiac Prince, No Patience
A low grade handicap which at first glance looks a nightmare race to unravel, but there are bits and pieces of form lurking if you go back far enough. I think that likely huge outsider Golden Forest could massively benefit from the drop back from 12 furlongs to the bare mile, while at a much shorter price keep a look out to see if there is any considerable support for No Patience.
He ran his last four races of the 2022 campaign on soft ground, but by far his best form has come on a sound surface and I would advise having a saver on him if he is solid in the market place. However, the selection Kodiac Prince is worth another chance also returning to a kinder surface. Last a winner off a mark of 70, he is set to run from a rating of 62 here and Rory Cleary seems to get the best out of the pick.

15:50 Doncaster – Alligator Alley
The feature race of the day looks a cracking test of speed. Mondammej has run two very solid races in top class handicap sprints at York before being outclassed when upped in grade for the Listed Achilles Stakes at Haydock Park. This is certainly more suitable but you just get the feeling that the handicapper needs to show the old boy a bit more mercy. The lightly raced Bond Chairman is back down to a winning mark, but I am prepared to give the hard working Alligator Alley one more chance.
Since bouncing back to winning form last August at Thirsk off a mark of 85 he has run no less than 13 times winning off 92, 96 and 100. During such a busy period he has kept his form really well, both on turf and the all-weather, and is easily forgiven his 12th of 20 in the Epsom Dash last time out as his stall opened later. In fact, he did well to get to within four and a half lengths of the winner. With plenty of pace on here, he can show his customary late turn of foot to settle matters.
17:10 Salisbury – Night Arc
Just four runners will go to post here and Dukeman (ran into a well handicapped horse at Redcar in Eeetee) could well have a chance to dominate from the front under the much under used Jack Mitchell. Savrola won’t want that rival to go too slow a pace as he can be hard to settle, although he relaxed nicely prior to running out a ready made winner at Wolverhampton last time out.
Rogue Rocket ran better than his last of seven at Haydock suggested, but connections now reach for the visor which leaves us with Richard Hannon’s charge Night Arc. Last a winner off a mark of 70 in May, he has only run twice since then, but showed plenty of promise last time out at Windsor when he was caught flat footed at a pivotal stage. Flexible as far as run style is concerned, the colt is now 5lbs lower than for his last winning run.
