Horse Racing Tips: 7/1 shot kicks off Mick Fitzgerald’s ITV Racing Saturday selections

Mighty Mick puts you in the picture at York, Sandown and Chester and likes Saratoga Gold to get us off to a winning start.

Mick Fitzgerald’s Horse Racing tips

14.00 – York – Saratoga Gold
14.15 – Sandown – Dutch Decoy
14.35 – York – Eligible
14.50 – Sandown – Great State
15.05 – York – Roberto Escobarr
15.20 – Chester – Saxon King
15.40 – York – Washington Heights

It’s the calm before the storm of Royal Ascot next week, but there are still some valuable prizes to be won and we will kick off at York with the Queen Mother’s Cup which is a handicap for female amateur jockeys.

14.00 – York – Saratoga Gold

Kayleigh Stephens won on SARATOGA GOLD at Newbury last year. It is a carbon copy this time round as he prepared with a good run at Newmarket when finishing third, and comes here with that run under his belt. Ground conditions are perfect and previous experience on this horse has to be a benefit.

14.15 – Sandown – Dutch Decoy

Charlie Johnston trains this six-year-old for the Owners Group, and I thought DUTCH DECOY ran a hell of a race at Epsom behind his stablemate Austrian Theory. Reproduction of that form would see this horse get it done.

14.35 – York – Eligible

Lee Westwood owns this son of Dark Angel and with the news of the end of the war between the PGA tour andf LIV golf this would be a fitting way to end a couple of really good weeks for the Nottingham Forest fan.

ELIGIBLE won very nicely over course and distance 29 days ago. Ground conditions are perfect and has to be the one.

14.50 Sandown – Great State

This horse has done the rounds, winning on artificial, soft and last time at York on fast ground. He is on a roll, and very often with these horses once they get on a roll they are very difficult to beat.

I think GREAT STATE is a worthy favourite, and can continue his progress in the hands of Oisín Murphy.

15.05 – York – Roberto Escobarr

The trip is the obvious thing with Quickthorn, and over two miles he looks much happier. The same can be said of ROBERTO ESCOBARR. The one thing with Quickthorn is he’s a heavy sweater. With the weather being so hot that has to be a negative here. Roberto is less so and he gets the vote.

15.20 – Chester – Saxon King

Trained by Charlie Hills, SAXON KING’s form is very strong. The problem is his draw of 10 is far from ideal for the jockey. Kieran Shoemark is sharp and I’m hoping he can overcome the poor draw and get it done. His form is top level and good enough to win this.

15.40 – York – Washington Heights

We don’t know how good this horse could be and Jamie Spencer rides for Kevin Ryan. I think WASHINGTON HEIGHTS will love the conditions and has to be on the shortlist as he looks tailor-made for his rider.
