This could be tactical with only three runners but preference is for DONNIE AZOFF, who opened his account over hurdles in March and matched the pick of his efforts in that sphere when runner-up on his chase debut at Ffos Las last month. Only five fences were jumped in that contest, but he took well to the larger obstacles and that form is working out well with the winner going in again next time and the third also winning next time out. There should be more to come from him now and he can prove too strong for last-time-out winner Al Zaraqaan.
14:45 – First Man
FIRST MAN has shown a similar level of form over both hurdles and fences and he shaped well enough on his first run since undergoing a breathing operation when hitting the frame over hurdles at this course last time. That was his first run for three months and he left the impression he would tighten up for it, headed after jumping the second last and having no extra afterwards. He is now 1lb lower than his last winning mark in this sphere and this doesn’t look like a strong race. In-form maiden Miss Antipova may provide the biggest threat.
15:15 – Chess Player
CHESS PLAYER has shown improved form since sent over fences, making a winning debut at Worcester in July last year and he bounced back to his best after eight months off when resuming winning ways at Huntingdon a fortnight ago. He had a bit up his sleeve on that occasion and a subsequent 7lb rise may not be enough to stop him following up if in the same mood. Fellow last-time-out scorers First Angel and Madiba Passion may give him most to think about in an interesting race for the grade.
15:45 – Faded Fantasy
This doesn’t look like an overly deep race and it looks like a good opportunity for FADED FANTASY to open his account. He produced his best effort to date when runner-up at Bangor last month, not jumping too fluently which ultimately proved his downfall, but he still pulled clear of the remainder with the odds-on favourite. There is still room for improvement with his jumping but he sets a pretty good standard in this field and is the likeliest winner. Shandancer can remain competitive at this level, with Presenting Nelly one to monitor in the betting on return from 16 months off.

16:15 – Faeire Cutlass
FAERIE CUTLASS left her previous efforts well behind upped to this trip in a first-time tongue strap at Worcester last month where she reeled Mrs Kinsella in close home. A 3lb rise for that looks very fair indeed and, with the strong possibility of better to come, she is taken to get the better of the latter once again. Recent course and distance winner Malina Ocarina and Midnight Gold, who arguably posted her best effort yet at Fontwell last time, are others with claims.
16:50 – Nadim
NADIM was well backed and showed improved form on his handicap debut over hurdles when runner-up at Stratford nine days ago, unlucky to bump into a thriving rival but he beat the remainder comfortably. He is 3lb higher now, but remains with potential as a hurdler, and he is well up to winning a race of this nature. Riggsby and Ez Tiger rate the principal dangers.
17:25 – Having A Barney
This looks a trappy handicap but the suggestion is HAVING A BARNEY, who shaped a bit better than the bare result when third over two and a half miles at this course last month. He did well to finish as close as he did under the circumstances, losing his position when hampered on the home turn and staying on gradually afterwards. The step back up in trip should suit and he has been on the up since sent handicapping. Blue Sans was only fourth at Worcester recently but is well treated on her best efforts and is feared most ahead of Supreme Yeats, who won off an identical mark here last year
