GET SHIRTY was well beaten in a Meydan Group 2 in March and it was the same story on last month’s return in the Yorkshire Cup. There’s a query regarding current form but this C&D winner is feasibly treated now back in a handicap and could go well.

15:00 Haydock – Modaara (Luke Tucker)

MODAARA opened account in good style second time up at Chelmsford City (10f) in October and took a big step forward after 6 months off when bolting up under a penalty at Kempton (12f) last month, leading 2f out and forging clear by an impressive 13 lengths. Clearly destined for better things.

15:35 Haydock – The Astrologist (PicksfromthePaddock)

THE ASTROLOGIST is an Australian gelding. Smart sort (Group 3 scorer at 6f/7f) on home soil and went very close, recording a career-best effort, in the Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan (6f, good; Group 1) in March. Only seventh in York Group 2 since but now drops back further in class. Leading player on ratings on this next stepping stone to Royal Ascot.

16:10 Haydock – Hougoumont (Jason Heavey)

HOUGOUMONT won a pair of 6f novices last autumn and not disgraced either start in handicaps this spring, looking worth this try at 7f when fourth in 11-runner handicap here (6f) 16 days ago. Feasible to think he can do better yet.
