17:15 – Nonsuch Lad

Most of these have chances but NONSUCH LAD did well to hit the frame at Sandown last time given his mid-race position and edges preference. Second choice Oh Herberts Reign needs to buck up his ideas but he’s accustomed to stronger races than this. Semser should also be on the scene.

17:50 – Never Ending

As a 4yo winner, Sunglasses faces a tall order conceding so much weight all round. NEVER ENDING has a tricky draw to deal with but on the back of a striking effort in defeat at Newmarket in a maiden that’s working out well, her potential is there for all to see. Sea Claret was one of the also-rans in that race but she didn’t handle the track too well and is bred to improve with her racing. Bloomwithgrace may have limitations back in a novice but has each-way claims on form.

18:25 – The Princes Poet

Under Curfew and Q Twenty Boy have won the past two runnings of this and yet neither return in the very best of form. THE PRINCES POET is going to be hard to beat if replicating his Brighton effort and he ran well here on his debut. Airshow, who is in form and reliable under these conditions, is second choice.

19:00 – Al Motasim

Zoukster (second choice) and Freetodream were good value for their recent wins but the most appealing option is AL MOTASIM (nap), who was noticeably well backed when a closing second on his handicap debut at Haydock. That form received a timely boost when the first and fourth horses dominated a race at Leicester on Tuesday.

19:35 – Frankness

Andrew Balding’s FRANKNESS has only won over 7f but she’s run quite well from tricky draws in two Chester sprints the last twice and can show her true colours here. Royal Dress was ahead of the selection in the first of those races on the Roodee and, despite a backward step in the latest, she’s feared most. Granary Queen will threaten at some stage of this race but she’s now firmly frustrating.

20:10 – Later Darling

A trappy handicap as none of these are overly reliable. LATER DARLING should at least be able to get some cover with Age Of Sail and Whimsy expected to put pace to the race. The recent Brighton winner is marginally preferred to The Thunderer, who made a winning start for his new yard on the AW.
