17:15 – Ibn Aldar

This looks open but the impression left by IBN ALDAR last time out suggests there will be more to come from him now back up in trip and he gets the vote. The main danger could emerge in the form of King Of The Dance, while Ikkari and Sandy Paradise are others of interest.

17:50 – Hellfire Bay

Oops is a key player on her promising debut fourth at Newmarket and she’s respected. Whoop Whoop ran green at Salisbury and could take a major forward step now upped in trip while there are several striking newcomers who need a close look, including Dazzling Star and Works Of Art. However, the vote goes to the Gosdens’ HELLFIRE BAY, who was an eyecatching third behind two experienced rivals at Goodwood last month and should know much more this time.

18:20 – Mindthegap

This looks tricky but it might be worth sticking with MINDTHEGAP, who has leading claims under a penalty for his emphatic win at Chelmsford in November and is open to more progress. Merlin The Wizard is the main form danger and he’s feared most ahead of Sir Michael Stoute’s Oliver Show. Magic Memories also enters the reckoning, while there are also four striking newcomers who need watching in the market including Roger Varian’s well-bred geldings Botanical and Akkadian Thunder.

18:50 – Orchid Bloom

There are some interesting newcomers, the pick of them perhaps Battista, despite possibly needing further. Two of these have shown good ability already and the penalised ORCHID BLOOM is taken to beat New Business.

19:20 – Lunatick

This looks wide open. Animate made it 2-6 when scoring at Wolverhampton and is respected along with Ertebat and Alpha Crucis who have both done well in handicaps this season. Same course and distance (C&D) winners Dark Trooper and New Endeavour have possibilities back at this track but the vote goes to LUNATICK who travelled strongly for a long way when an improved second at Windsor and looks interesting dropped to this trip on his handicap debut.

19:50 – Prepense

Plenty have possibilities but the vote goes to Sir Michael Stoute’s well-related PREPENSE, who justified favouritism in a Newmarket maiden in April and is open to more progress at this new trip on her handicap debut. The Gosdens’ unbeaten Marksman Queen is feared most, although Molly Valentine really kicked on again with her comfortable win at Nottingham. Others to consider are Maid In Kentucky and Godolphin’s Rainbow Sky.

20:25 – Educator

An open race in which the vote goes to EDUCATOR, who was a good third when stepped back up to 1m4f at Doncaster last week and is a big player if he can build on that on his AW debut. C&D winner Stay Well is feared most on his drop back in grade, although Savvy Knight could be dangerous if he gets some luck and Celtic Art looks interesting on his switch back to the Flat. Tashi also enters the reckoning, while others to keep an eye on are the returning pair Second Slip and Enthrallment.

21:00 – Spit Spot (NAP)

Kalamity Kitty remains of great interest despite the absence, her most recent win last May having worked out well, but perhaps SPIT SPOT (NAP) can continue the progress started in staying handicaps last autumn. Havaila has a good chance of handling the all weather and also has a good deal to recommend him.[
