Of the Bolger pair, Golden Spangle has had enough chances and Machnamh will need to run better than last time (over 6f admittedly). SATURN SEVEN was ahead of the latter that day at the Curragh and this return to 7f looks a big plus for the selection. Hasiyna and Neowise are well-related fillies who ran positive races last time and they very much enter the equation.
Last year’s winner Spanish Tenor commands respect returning off a 9lb lower mark and Final Voyage is unlikely to be far away. However, HOTROCKET (NAP) ran a solid race on testing ground at Cork and it’s reasonable to expect better again from him under these less taxing conditions.
Barnhill Rose must have a chance and so too TOGETHER ACLAIM, who finished hot on the heels of that mare at Roscommon after getting further back than ideal. Snowdonia Song is of greater interest all of a sudden after a better show last time, while Pinball Wizard is a must for the shortlist.
Of those to have run, Firm Handshake is respected on the strength of his debut effort and Lygon Street appeals as just the type to make a better 3yo. Mr King and Smote could also show the benefit of being gelded. However, KNIGHT TO KING boasts a terrific pedigree, as a half-brother to Godolphin’s top-notcher Ghaiyyath and out of the yard’s Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Nightime, and an Irish Derby entry would suggest that he’s been showing plenty at home.
This is a decent contest. The Nathaniel-bred CORMAC T would not be winning out of turn. Perhaps the biggest danger is Treasured Soul, who exceeded general expectations on debut.
A tight little affair. Potential front-runner Maralinga would be a worthy winner. It is a little surprising to see the headgear change on Sir Antonino. A stablemate of that one beat GRADULATIONS, who has dropped 2lb, at Fairyhouse.
A cracking race for an each-way bet as only a handful have recent form and the remainder are all hard to fancy generally. Ranko Express beat Water Mint here last time. SNOWHAVEN might be worth chancing after being sent off favourite at Leopardstown.
