17:30 – Lailah
A few of these are in the reckoning but LAILAH was entitled to need the run when keeping on steadily on her handicap debut at Kempton and she can also benefit from the extra distance. The main danger can come from Caracristi, who has an excellent record over same course and distance (C&D), and Sun Festival are likely dangers while Selfish Brian has not been in much form but starts out for his in-form new yard on a favourable mark.
18:00 – Bomb Squad
Top of the list is John Mackie’s course winner BOMB SQUAD, who went very close at Chepstow last time and is only 1lb higher with Oisin Murphy booked on this return to Tapeta. Second choice is an all-weather (AW) specialist Martineo, who won at Newcastle on his penultimate run and ran another good race at Chelmsford 11 days ago. Dodgy Bob has recorded two wins at big prices over C&D this year and has claims if he can bounce again, while others to consider are Madrinho and Sirius White.
18:30 – Mother Margaret
Creative Style returns from 299 days off but she enters the reckoning on her close fourth at Kempton last August and is respected on her first run for Archie Watson. Queen Of Sparta has a striking pedigree and needs a close look along with with the other newcomer Cloud Cover, who represents a yard with a record of 5-15 in maidens this year. However, the vote goes to MOTHER MARGARET, who showed plenty of promise with her debut second at Newbury in April and just about sets the standard on that form.
19:00 – Gold Medal
Most of these have something to prove but GOLD MEDAL started this season with two strong-finishing wins over 6f at Lingfield and he got badly hampered in his hat-trick bid there last time. He still looks feasibly treated and may well be able to get back on the scoresheet to make it 3-4 for his current yard. Vespasian is feared most on his step back up in trip, although Shalaa Asker has possibilities back on AW and Godolphin’s Secret Moment needs watching in the market on his return.
19:30 – A Sure Welcome
Cuban Breeze (second choice) has found it tough going this year but this is weaker than she is used to and she’s a big player. Brasil Power’s 7f win here hasn’t worked out but dropping to 6f could suit and he’s in good hands. Aberama Gold is another to consider but the veteran A SURE WELCOME can build on the promise of last week’s return to action where his rider had to sit and suffer behind a wall of horses.

20:00 – Danzart
Stella Barclay’s resurgent 5yo DANZART has won in good style at Thirsk and Redcar in his last two starts. His AW record stands at 0-6 and this return to Tapeta complicates things but he’s a major player again if he can transfer his form back to this sphere. May Remain and Billian are feared most in that order, although Jumira Bridge has won twice over 6f this spring and looks interesting on his step back up in trip. The other one on the shortlist is 15-time winner Peachey Carnehan.
20:30 – Steel Helmet
Preference is for five-time AW winner STEEL HELMET, who got back on the scoresheet with a clearcut win here last month and 3lb rise for that success looks fair. The in-form 4yo All About Alice is feared most ahead of Chef De Troupe, who is 2-5 over C&D including a brave win on his penultimate run. Bird For Life has claims if she can rediscover her spark, while another who could be in the mix is Quiet Thunder.
21:00 – Sarkha (NAP)
Most of these have plenty to prove at present but Iconique should have more going for her now switched back to the AW after running twice on soft ground this spring. SARKHA (NAP) has to prove that the cheekpieces continue to help after winning when they were first fitted last month but he should be suited by the return to this trip and ought to have more to come. Isle Of Wolves is preferred of the remainder.
