14.15 – Lil’ Frank

This looks a potential match between LIL’ FRANK and Tajawal with preference for the former who is open to more improvement. He ran well behind a couple of useful sorts in two starts last year and he progressed further on his return from a break when runner-up to another nice type at Southwell last month.

That was his first start since undergoing a gelding operation and, while he left the impression he’d be suited by further, he should be fine kept to this trip for the time being. He can open his account at the main expense of standard-setter Tajawal.

14.45 – Alethiometer

ALETHIOMETER is a two-time winner over seven furlongs and she ran up to her best on her return over a mile at Redcar two weeks ago. She was unlucky to bump into an unexposed three-year-old on that occasion who has since run well in defeat and she left the impression that she’d come on for the run and also appreciate this drop back in trip.

There should be more to come from her and she appeals as still being on a good mark. Woobay rates a major threat on her handicap debut with the likelihood of even more to come.

15.15 – Fifty Sent

FIFTY SENT shaped well on his first start since leaving Michael Bell when finishing third at Newcastle in April and he built on that promise when opening his account over the same course and distance last time, showing a nice turn of foot to quicken into the lead and all out at the finish to hold on.

A subsequent 2 lb rise is fair enough and he has been well placed in another handicap which hasn’t much depth. Havana Party was behind a couple of today’s rivals here last time but it’s possible he could provide the chief threat if a change of headgear gives him a bit of a lift.

15.45 – Imperative

IMPERATIVE is the least exposed in the line-up and he has made a good start for this yard, showing much improved form after a gelding operation on stable debut over a mile and a half at Wolverhampton. He progressed again upped further in trip when getting off the mark at this track last month, produced to challenge around two furlongs out and edged ahead soon after, responding well to pressure.

This step up to two miles can unlock further improvement and he seems sure to launch another bold bid. Baez made a sound start for the Jim Goldie yard when third here 13 days ago and could be the one to give Iain Jardine’s representative most to think about.

16.15 – Freedom Flyer

This looks a trappy low-grade handicap but FREEDOM FLYER makes appeal dropped back to the minimum trip. He took advantage of a reduced mark when winning over five furlongs at Thirsk in April and he has largely held his form well since, though he was too keen at this course last time and had nothing left to give in the final furlong.

He is still feasibly treated on the pick of his form and looks the percentage play. One Last Hug is back under professional handling and is a threat, along with Kraken Power.

16.45 – Kalahari Prince

The form of the David O’Meara yard is starting to turn and KALAHARI PRINCE may be ready to take care of a career-low mark. He won a handicap at Redcar from a 4 lb higher mark for Kevin Ryan last season and there was promise to glean from his latest run in first-time blinkers at Beverley, headed inside the final furlong and losing a couple of places close home.

The drop back to a bare mile on quick ground should suit and he could have more to offer for this yard. Rory, who is being kept busy, and Biplane, a recent winner on the all-weather, are the obvious threats.

17.15 – Primo’s Comet

This isn’t a strong race and Jim Goldie holds a strong hand with PRIMO’S COMET and Global Humour with preference for the former. He hasn’t won for nearly a year but he is now 11 lb lower in the weights and is holding his form well at present, again finishing placed in a much stronger race than this at Musselburgh three weeks ago.

He should appreciate this ease in grade and he is handicapped to strike. Global Humour isn’t the most straightforward but arrives on the back of a win at this course and is another to consider.
